How to make new cars drop in value by GM

After finding out I need a new transmission on a new 20162ss I researched what it would cost to just get a 2017 presumably with a newer A8. Guess what ??? What you ask. Chevy just approved a 16 Percent discount to 2016 Camaros left in stock. That makes 2016 cars worth a ton less prematurely big time. The $48K I spent with options is no worth 31K in 9 months. Glad I didn't pay list in December when I bought the car. I am seasoned in getting screwed buying cars I have lots of experience. This however is a world record. Thought others would like to know. Hope you don't lose your tranny or radiator fan, but don't worry the real screws are hidden from view. N0 one else makes the LT1 motor with n Automatic with track quality suspension and light weight. So its a Camaro or nothing. Especially looking at gas mileage and style. Sitting down very carefully. On the bright side I don't have to worry about buying a ZL1 in the future

Why do you think so many of us in the monthly sales thread said we were waiting to see the deals come? GM conditioned customers to that. You shouldn't buy a GM car at launch anymore. If you want a 2017, wait until late summer 2017 to buy it. Otherwise you are wasting so much money and will never have equity in your vehicles.

Don't all manufacturers heavily discount last year's remaining inventory when the new model year comes out just to get rid of it? Seems normal to me.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

It is pretty standard procedure to do so, he may be better served if he waits until the discount is done with.

I'm sorry for your troubles Fred25 but your math is a little off. 16% off of 48k is $7680 right? so it's not 31 but closer to 41. I hope your issues get resolved to your liking.

Nope my math is by GM 16 percent off msrp. My 31K is what used cars sales manager trade in offer for my car. I added ground effect, custom wheels and tires, and speed film over the entire fron. That is 45k plus 45k in add ons. Worth 31 K, I appreciate the comments, but 19K loss in a year is NOT business as usual. That is driven by GM devaluing 2016 by discounts.

I don't think so in general SI44470 by GM clearly points out there were machined problems for 2016 Camaro and CT6 Caddys. They were replacing transmissions for those with torque converter problems. I am sure that was a small number lucky me. Don't worry about your new A8. The transmission to me is fantastic except for the failure of the torque converter. I got the first Camaro to my Dealer when it came out. Like a previous comment waiting till second model year for GM is a good idea. They are right in my case.Enjoy your car I know of no competitive car as good. Ford just not have a competitive car unless to are will to go 6spd. manual. Ford thinks everyone who wants performance should only get a 6spd. Chevy lets us choose.

No offense Fred25, but your add-ons are not worth squat at trade in time. Sometimes not even if you sell privately. You could take all of that stuff off and still get the same offer. Trust me, I know from experience.

Well, cars are bought to have fun with and to keep. I don't believe one should get caught up with resale values, and if you are, maybe you're buying the wrong type of car and should probably look into leasing instead.

I bought a year-end 2016 Camaro 2ss, I was able to take off 3500, 0% financing for 72 months, and install free dark lamps

That sucks man. Something tells me it's going to get worse if they can't move some inventory

These cars are absolutely incredible. There is not a single car in this price range that can match the performance and technology of Camaro. It is still a very new car and definitely catching a lot of people off guard and by surprise.

I literally have people stop and stare at me like what the hell is that. I have had multiple compliments within 1k miles from store employees noticing me pull up to the drivers next to me at a red light.

The exhaust sound alone will destroy MOST cars.

Dealer offered you 31k and would probably list it for 39.. That's how they work.
