The only person in my family that knew how to drive a stick was my grandfather, and sadly he was in too poor of health by the time I started driving to teach me and has now been deceased for a long time. Other than him, nobody else in my family ever drove stick. Non of my friends drive stick either so I really don't/haven't had anyone that could teach me, so I drive auto.

I learned to drive standard, but i bought the A8. I was discussing ti with my dad who owns a 2014 stingray with the M7, i do not daily drive a manual so it isn't a big deal for me. I have a harley so i get to ride a clutch all summer.

I did not know how to drive a manual. I watched a few YouTube videos, took an hr lesson, and just bought my car.

It was a little scary driving home from the dealership, especially when I got caught in bumper to bumper traffic. I was mainly just nervous since it was all new to me. But i'm at almost 2 weeks into ownership and couldn't be happier. Best decision ever.

Learned to drive a Manual when I was 11 in a blizzard. Autos aren't as fun. We are one of the only country's that the Auto is the norm. I understand convenience, but when you drive a manual you are one with the car and have no time for distractions that the auto can allow for.

Thanks man! I was dead set on getting the A8 at first, but I've always wanted to learn how to drive stick so I said it's either now or never. Especially since I'm young and my knees are still with me. Hell of a first car to learn on I'll tell ya that lol.

J/K - I drove manual trans cars and trucks for years. Last few have been auto. I really like the A8. You can be lazy or put it in manual mode and do the shifting yourself. Not the same, but acceptable.
But you can sip and cruise.

Family all had manuals when I was growing up, so it was either learn or don't drive.

The SS is a really easy car to learn on. The shifter is positive, the clutch is light, and it matches revs on upshifts and downshifts.

Only rev matches on downshifts...
