Ah yes, Camaro6's 3rd law: With every thread regarding the dark tail lamps, there must be a corresponding post about how you can just spray tint your lights for $12 instead. Fantastic.

Are the darkened taillights just as bright as the regular ones when the lights are on?

I have seen darkened taillights that you can barely tell when they are on in the daylight.

Two problems i have with the $12 solution is that; 1) if you get rear-ended with tinted taillights, a good lawyer could prove your car was at least partially at fault because of the diminished lighting. Any tinting or covering of factory taillights could/does negate it's DOT certification. 2) as far as I am aware tinting taillights is illegal in all 50 states, it just isn't strictly enforced, but if a law enforcement officer is looking for a reason to pull you over, this gives them one.

The GM dark taillights are clear with black background giving them a dark appearance while maintaining DOT certification, They look good and are legal.

Most important point of your answer.... They look good... the GM tail lights look really good..

The tinted ones look cheap ...just like how much they cost...
