Thinking of switching

I currently have a heavily modified '15 C7. Love the car, but would love to share more of the driving experiences with the family. The C7 sits in the garage M-F and is barely driven on the weekend. Lack of a backseat is really killing any chances to use it.

For the 6th gen owners with kids, is it possible to fit a front facing child seat in the back? Does it leave enough room for a passenger? How limiting is the trunk when going on weekend trips? Anyone else in a similar situation and switched over?

Had a c7 and loved it. But as a DD it sat too low for my fused spine. I doubt you'll find the rear seat to your liking or needs, its a seat in name only.

We use our Camaro with two kids all the time! My 3 year old sits behind me in her forward facing seat and my 3 month old sits in a back facing seat behind my wife. The back facing seat is a little tight but it works. I wouldn't want to use it every day but for going to car shows or out for a cruise it's great. Like you I considered getting the vette but I wanted to share my car passion with the family, and that's why I bought the Camaro. Good luck!

My fleet manager friend has always referred to the Camaro as a Corvette with a back seat. Stop by a dealer and take a look. The back seat is a little larger than some of the other "back seats" that I have seen.

OP - have you looked into a Dodge Charger? 4 doors, easier to get to the back seats, and with the right package can be a family hauler that hauls a$$.

if you can handle it a little longer...there is whispers that new SS Sedan may be replacing the current one that is out there. and the new SS Sedan would be built on the Alpha platform in Lansing Michigan. but that might not be for a cpl years.

But for now you may want to get an SS Sedan, Camaro, or maybe a Cadillac CTS?
I have the 2016 Camaro...the back seats are kinda small, but that is fine with me as I don't use em.

I have a 9 yr old, and a 6 yr old and we use the camaro just fine. My son fits OK behind me (i'm short though, 5'6), and my daughter with her booster sits fine behind my wife. My daughter and her booster seat actually need more room than my son because the seat bottom is so long, he legs aren't long enough to fold, so her feet stick straight out. Where as my son can sit normal and has a couple inches to spare.

When my daughter gets older, she'll sit behind me, and she'll probably fit fine until at least 10, and my son will sit behind my wife who fits even with the front seat all the way forward.

Bottom line, depends on how tall you and your spouse are. If you are 6ft, nope, i dont think any kid will fit behind you, and if your wife is tall, totally screwed there too. But if not, the back seats can serve a purpose.

Thanks for the input. I thought about Charger and SS, but seriously like the ZL1 w/10 speed. We looked at an SS last night, but didn't have the car seat with us to test. My bigger concern was visibility and it wasn't half as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, the windows are a little short, but extend much further back than my C7.

I really want my daily driver to be a fun car and something we can use on the weekends as a family. I will also throw out that I do get the GM employee discount and have given my local dealer enough business that he will honor once the initial rush of buyers is over.

A front facing seat will fit, but getting it in and out will be a pain. Get a pad for the base to rest on so it doesn't tear up the leather. Our kids are tweens and just under 4' tall. They have plenty of room, but since I'm 6'3" I have to move the seat as far forward as I can without my right knee touching the dash. This gives just enough room for one of the kids to put their legs down behind me.

Trunk is smaller than the 5th gen, by a lot. All 3 axes have shrunk, so now our luggage that fit just right in the 5th gen doesn't work at all in the 6th gen. Going to switch our weekender luggage out for duffles and day packs now so it is a bit more flexible.

We have had no problems using my ss as a daily driver. Took it on a trip from NC to canada. Bought a bunch of shit. No Issues fitting all our traveling stuffs or the 2 year old.

Of course its less convenient than a 4dr car, but worth it if it's what you want to drive every day. I almost bought a chevy SS for this reason then i was like ahhh **** it I want the camaro!

GM has said over and over that camaro owners dont complain about visibility. I am a camaro owner, and have no complaints about visibility.

However, I'm sure there are a lot of non-owners that have not purchased a camaro because of visibility, but IMO, their loss. (although, I wouldn't have purchased this car without the rear camera and blind spot monitoring)

My 8 year old and 12 year old sit in the back quite often, we have gone on a few road trips to some cool roads nearby. It is not huge, but they are comfortable back there. Trunk is good for overnight/weekend trips, a few bags and stuff fit fine back there. It is not an SUV of course, but works for me and my family.
