Makes me wish Chevy included a way to select alternate video input for the 8" display, just switch to it when you need it.

Couldn't you make a "Y" connector on the video input cable? I don't know if its RCA or a simple shielded wire or not. Or have the rear view camera cable cut and run to a switch and the front view camera run to the opposite pole on the switch. Then the output from the switch back into the display.

I like the idea, but how about a 3 way switch wired into the reverse backup camera sensor so that you could bypass and still maintain the factory look and visibility?

The idea is good but if I connect it to the main back up camera I may lose the warranty for it.

Anyone know where I can get the wiring schematics for the camera 2016 or 2017 they should be the same. Something like this may work... I forgot to add the reverse on switch but it would just be wired in to the switch with a double pole double throw.

I think this may be the easiest way to do the front camera, until some one hacks the My Link software. This works with Apple and Android phones.

There are a few companies that have the unlock code for reflashing the MyLink HMI. And you can add an alternate video input plus a switcher. I think Gen5DIY is specifically building a front camera for this use can and it will use the MyLink screen. He should be posting an update to his thread on this in the next week.

Here is a good alternative: https://www.zapals.com/4-3-tft-lcd-c...up-camera.html

Just a generic cheap one but there are plenty of more expensive and nicer ones.

Here is your solution. Buy a cam and install it on the front and it will work on the OEM screen with this

If you decide to spend the mega bucks ($1500) on the Gen5DIY kit, I hope you have better luck with it than I did. It was such a bloody nightmare for me & my 2017 ZL1 that I ended up returning it & got stuck with a $1500 store credit because they don't refund on electrical purchases!!!

I ordered mine on Black Friday and just finished the wiring portion. They were back logged so I am expecting my reprogrammed HMI next week. What was your issues with the product?

So I received my HMI from Gen5DIY a day early and has already wired in my camera. The only thing I had to do was plug into my HMI and test. Everything came out great for me. My backup camera works, the front camera works, and I am a happy customer.
