It's very concentrated impurities in the catch can oil, do not dump it back into the engine, top up with good oil.

Make a concerted effort to not lug the engine and see if the blow by decreases dramatically. By "lug" I mean no more than 10% throttle when under 2000rpms
There is a video on the Engineering Explained YouTube channel that explains how lugging can cause excessive blow by and pre ignition. It's a good watch for those who are having issues.

Checked mine after 2000...barely had enough to cover the bottom of a 16.9oz water bottle.

First picture is at 2000 miles and the second is at 3000. I have the A8. I drive like I stole it since day one. The manual did say that oil consumption would be higher at first. Although I haven't seen any change on the dipstick before or after changing the oil at 1500. I would keep an eye on it to see if it drops off before bringing it in to the dealer. Just my 2 cents...

If you're dropping a couple ounces between oil changes, I would be thankful to have the catch can in place, but wouldn't be sweating it. The car has 10 quarts of oil in it lol.
If the amount of oil used between oil changes can reasonably be measured in quarts, then I would certainly be concerned. |

At 1600 miles, I was 1.5 quarts low. I don't have a catch can yet, but that will be my next mod.

My advice as a former SA is if you are seeing substantial oil loss document it with a short video of your odometer and a dipstick pull over at least one change interval. If it doesn't improve provide that evidence with your complaint of oil usage to your SA. Otherwise the first thing they will ask for is documentation.
