Trade in values suck. If you trade in the first three years, you will get hosed.

Thanks guys, maybe the trade-in pricing I am finding is not too far off. If that's what they get, I am ok with it.

I've worked for several major insurance companies and worked claims
across the country. One thing I found is that dealers almost all use the
NADA Used Car Evaluation Book. Granted it's only a guide but it's what
they use. You can look up NADA prices (Google It) or just go on E/Bay
Motors, and you will most likely find dozens of cars similar to what your
trying to get a fair current market price on.

I was told you lose 20% the minute is driven off the lot, another 7-10% per year.

It is nothing special. There is nothing about it that is going to limit the depreciation artificially. As awesome as we think it is it is made of the same materials every other point A to point B car is made of and is a mass production car like the rest. It will drop quickly in the first year. It is not an investment.

That is about right. That is why you lease so you don't take it in the ass.

https://www.carmax.com/cars/chevrole.../2016/13609264 Just wait in 3 years you will be able to pick up Gen 6 ZL1 for $40 grand at Carmax. Let someone else take the hit so you can save $25 grand! http://www.caranddriver.com/news/201...-and-info-news

How does leasing help? You still have to pay for all that depreciation over the first 2-3 years and the lease payment will reflect that. That is why it costs $600 per month to lease an SS.

Leasing would only help if the bank figures the residual value of the vehicle much higher than what the market value winds up being 3 years later. However, the 54-58% 36 month residuals I have seen will probably be pretty close.

Black book is basically blue book but just 20% lower. It's used by the dealers to show potential customers something that says their car is worth less than what it truly is. Never ever listen to it.

KBB and NADA are much better indicators. Not perfect but much closer. I've had many dealers will say that KBB and NADA are too high...but yet their final offer happens to be right at those values.
