Trading in my ve15 WRX CVT for a 17 Camaro SS.

Super excited, been reading as much as I can - haven't test driven one yet. Looking to test both out, read the auto was quicker. Read some on the transmission and saw it was decent numbers wise.

Any thoughts from the pros on the auto vs manual 17 SS?

*Random question* How well does a car seat fit in the back row and a stroller in the trunk? Wife requirements need to be met.

Forget the car seat, not happening! Make sure you check the paint since they have shoddy paint quality on these cars. Good luck!

I can fit a car seat no problem!! Get a front facing seat that sits more upright.

Car seat fits well for me. I'm using a Chicco Keyfit rear facing with base and it is a pain to get in and out, but works. My son is 7 months old.

I've also fit a forward facing seat with a 5 y/o in there. That fit much easier.

Stroller, not so much. The opening for the trunk is rather small. We have a BOB stoller which doesnt fit due to the trunk opening size. I haven't tried out umbrella stoller yet, that might just fit.

Bring both with you to the dealership. I only brought the car seat, so the wife approved! No regrets from me though!

It's gonna be REALLY hard unless you have a forward facing car seat. Even with our forward facing seat and my four year old daughter, the passenger seat is tight for my wife when all three of us are in there. It's fine as our third car, but will be much more cumbersome on a daily basis

This is my experience with our grand daughter's seat as well. It is forward facing and she's 3 years old. Tough for a passenger to sit in the front seat.

Personally I would not buy an automatic just for the control you get with a manual and now with rev match there is no heel/toe needed to drive aggressively. My car was in the shop a while and I got an RS loaner car with 8 speed (granted not the same trans as the ss) but it took some of the fun out of driving the car.

Car seats fit perfectly fine back there. I have had both types of seats and they fit no problem. The seats with the flat bottom fit best and I don't say that cause of space in the car I say it because it keeps all the gadgets in the car out of arm and foot reach. The first seat i used sat kind of high so my son could irritate me flicking the seat latch with his foot. He's two.

My 14 year old son who is about 5'4" fits fine back there too... but he's skinny.

Stroller fits no problem.

This is the car seat I use. Bought at kids r us. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...uctId=50111766

Well, from all the responses on car seats here, it sounds like there are two completely different opinions on whether it fits and is comfortable for all or it doesn't.

OP, take the car seat and family with you and see how you feel about it. It doesn't work for us, but we have other cars.

Front facing car seat....not a big problem. (Passenger will be way forward though) Rear facing...it's a problem.

Our daughter transitioned from a rear to a front facing soon after we bought the 6th gen thank God. In my 5th gen I could do the rear facing without a lot of trouble (obviously not great....I mean these are not family cars lol) but in the 6th gen it was a huge pain. The seat was just average size and weight I'd say.

If anyone knows of a small light weight rear facing seat that works decent in these cars speak up, but I'm not holding my breathe.

I'm single (thanks God) no kids so I can't help you on the car seat thing but I do strongly suggest a manual if you are a spirited driver or want a fun car. My 17 was ordered and I wouldn't even look at an A8 although it is faster. I'm more about the fun factor plus mine is getting heavily modded anyway immediately so it'll be faster than the A8. If you don't mind a slightly less fun car, and plan on tracking it and doing more dig runs - Auto.

I've been a manual sports car driver for over 25 years (plus bikes of course), but the A8 competitive mode is faster than any mortal can shift . If stoplight encounters are your thing, the auto is going to win every time.

No regrets going with the A8. The only way I would go back to a manual is roadcourse or mountain road, and the new A10 in the ZL1 will likely even make that obsolete - technology beats human reflexes

It won't be faster than a similarly modded A8
