Anybody have any kind of specialty insurance? Like Agreed value, pleasure, low miles?
Looking at my options as my car will not be my daily driver, and only see about 3000-4000 miles a year.
Anybody using a company that offers something up for a situation like this? Thanks - |

Assuming no lien or lease? GM Financial and Ally both require mins for me, so I haven't had the ability to use any specialty lower rates. Curious as to what your options are.

It has nothing to do with loan/lease. You coverage is the exact same, if not better then "regular" insurance. I used Grundy on my pervious Mustang. It was like half of what Geico wanted. Agreed value, unlimited mileage, had to have a daily driver, garage, clean record and such. Only things are you can't take the car to the mall, or places like that, or use it as a backup to your daily driver. Which I don't anyway, so it worked out.

I have specialty insurance on my '15 1LE thru Grundys.
You have to have a daily driver insured thru a regular insurance company; it has to be newer than a certain model year (might be 2000 or 2005); have to keep the special car garaged at your residence; can't drive it to work or school; no mileage limits; cannot roll one tire onto a racing facility; can't have any drivers in the house under a certain age (might be 25); and a few more restrictions. Benefits: YOU get to set the value of the vehicle; premiums are MUCH cheaper than regular insurance. Hagertys is about the same, except they set the value and it might not be to your liking. Grundys premium was lower than Hagertys.

Also, Hagerty won't insure cars this new. At least not as of six months ago when I called to inquire. |

Also, I just called Grundy. They can't insure a 2017 Camaro yet as it's not on their approved list as of today...lady I spoke to said she really had no clue as to when it would be added. Odd they have delays like that. Hopefully before I get my car this fall they add it, as their rate was fantastic...

Geico, who I have my other two cars with, quoted me almost twice that with the same coverage, minus of course the agreed value and with $250 deductibles. They don't offer low mileage discounts they told me. I always get well higher then required coverage, so if you knocked my coverage down, Grundy would be even less... I just hope they add 2017 Camaros soon, I did ask her to check, and the 2016's are on there. Pretty sure they will only insure an SS or higher though. No V6 or I4's. |

This may not be considered specialty insurance, but State Farm offers Drive Safe and Save for OnStar subscribers. They access your mileage via OnStar and charge you based on how much your car is driven. Less miles = less premium.

Not in PA. Can't speak for other states; you'd have to ask what exactly the state laws allow access to. Here, the only thing they are permitted to view through this provision is mileage.
