Interesting. And not at all surprising. I suppose if you can clean it sufficiently to maintain proper flow and still ensure optimal filtering, it should be ok.

Not sure $250 makes sense though. Roughly calculates out to about 35 normal filters over about 140,000 miles; assuming a $7/filter cost and an oil change around every 4,000 miles (give or take a thousand). Most folks don't keep their vehicle that long these days.

They want you to flip that upside down and spray with water and compressed air to get the crud out as well?

For 250$, compared with 5$ AC Delco filters for 4-5k miles each, an average driver would have to drive the car for 200-250k miles to break even. I really doubt they have tested each application for 200-250k miles to ensure that it actually has that long of a service life.

I have seen enough outright JUNK with the K&N name on it, that I personally will not buy any K&N product.

Air filter elements that let lots of dirt through and oil filters that seize up on threads and have little cast in nuts on the end that round off and disintegrate if you put a wrench on them.

I am happy if you have had good luck with their products, but I am not a fan. There are (or used to be) various web pages out there showing these sorts of problems. I always thought they were good until I helped friends who had been using their products. My experience is all with their motorcycle products, so maybe their car products are better, but I am taking no chances with my Camaro.

I've changed out the stock paper filter for their air filter and have been getting an additional pound of boost from it. Say what you want, but I've been monitoring the car live with Dash Command before and after changing to the K&N and I'm getting more air flow from it. Considering you can clean it as often as you like, those web pages are pretty much bunk. With each additional PSI equating to roughly 25rwhp, there's no way I'm going back to paper filters. I'm not partial to the brand, just the results over the stock filter. Right now it's my only option as no one makes an air intake that fits the Maggie.

I haven't tried their oil filter and doubt I will for that price lol.
