Assuming they get the 17 tuning figured out by then.....
Engine: -RotoFab Intake -Vmax throttle body -MSD manifold -Catch can -91 Tune / E85 tune for track Exhaust: -Kooks / Afe / ARH headers and mid pipe (undecided) Brakes: -Fluid swap with Motol 600 and factory brake duct install -Dedicated set of pads and possibly rotors. G-Loc's Suspension: -MRC springs Not sure need to drive it first. Sounds like it's pretty compliant and well balanced. Maybe a bigger front or rear bar for adjustments if I autoX it. Might not (hopefully) need nothing! Wheels: Second set of forged wheels with some Hoosier R7's, hopefully a squared setup. Misc: Really need a new helmet this year! Some of those bad ass black GM tail lights

Yeah I know.. I actually looked at NASA but in factory trim its already in TT2 and that gets into some real intense competition ($$$$) I need to look up f stock rules, what's next step up? I just want to drive the shit out of this one on the track. I built my mustang up to track it and only went once. It never gave me confidence, hence I sold it while I could to get into a 1le. My buddies 5th gen in stock form felt better than my fully built mustang (2014) |

Nothing. Drive it and track it as is (probably break pad upgrade for the track thats it). If I can drive it to it's limits some day and it's not enough buy a different car.

For those of you considering SCCA Autocross and would like to get an idea of where your car would be classed with your planned modifications here is a quick reference list of all of the modifications allowed in each of the street classes from lowest to highest. (Street is the least modifications and Street Modified is the most modifications) Keep in mind any modifications allowed in a lower category are also allowed in the higher category, for example Street Modified can perform any modification allowed in Street, Street Touring, or Street Prepared. If the modification is not listed it is not allowed. In addition the Street Touring category has additional wheel and tire limitations with a maximum of 10" wide wheels and 285mm tires for STU where the Camaro would be placed, so the 1LE would need a tire swap to compete there. As you can see from the list a 1LE with a tune and its stock 20x11" rear wheels will instantly be moved to Street Prepared since the tune would bump it into Street Touring but the 11" wheels would be ineligible for STU and it would bump it further on to Street Prepared. Classic American Muscle (CAM) is another option but is a completely separate class from the Street categories and is basically unlimited. Street Category
Street Touring Category
Street Prepared Category
Street Modified Category
Classic American Muscle

Other than upgraded pads and brake fluid, I will be leaving it stock for at least the first year. I work for a road course so it will be seeing a lot of use there. Having GM back their product if something happens is incentive enough for me to leave it alone. At least initially. I think I will be spending enough on tires and brakes anyways.

Excellent information! I have one question though… You mentioned a – street as the category it would likely fall into. I do not see that category listed in the information you provided. If you wouldn't mind could you please elaborate on that specific class? Really helpful post thank you |

What is there to do? I think GM Engineers know what they are doing. I'm not going to start slapping on parts and tell myself I know better.

Traditionally the Camaro has been running in F-Street (FS) against Mustang GT, M3 BMW etc. However due to the increase in performance expected from the 6th Gen 1LE we are speculating that it could get bumped to A-Street where the GT350 that the 1LE is likely faster than was placed. We won't know until they update the classing for 2017 though. Regardless of if it says in FS or gets moved to AS it will still have to abide by the same Street class rules if you want to run it in the Street class. If you choose to more extensively modify the car it would be bumped into another category for instance if you had a tune and wanted to run 40 treadwear Hoosier A6's you would move to the Street Prepared category sub category "E" or E-Street Prepared or ESP for short. If you wanted to also add a huge rear wing on top of that you would be moved to Street Modified or SM where all of the cars are placed together with no sub categories. (well there is SMF which is Street Modified FWD) The best way to use the information I posted is to decide on what mods you want to do, then find out which of the 4 categories it falls into, then consult the SCCA Solo rule book to see what sub class your car would be placed into. If you are new to Autocross I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you do not modify your car until you get a reasonable amount of seat time. I see tons of new autocrossers show up for events that have already done tons of modifications to their cars and wind up in some super competitive group where they have absolutely no chance of being competitive. Try it first stock, see where you fall out with your current skill level, work on improving that with more seat time or instruction and maybe get better tires and a performance alignment. If the 6th Gen 1LE remains in F-Street that is all it will need to kick the living crap out of the competition there. Updated to add: I went back to read your list of planned mods, and your Kooks headers and intake changes would put you into Street Prepared category, and spring changes that modify ride height could possibly move you into Street Modified but I would have to research that some more.
