Buying a Camaro SS
Hello Guys,
I am kinda desperate to buy a Camaro SS after I test drove it this weekend, however I am not sure if I should wait until July 2017 for 2018 Model year and see if any major changes would happen to the Car....Any thoughts/Suggestions on it? Thanks.... |

Yes.... Think of all the great times with your new "baby" that you will be putting off. I purchase a 2016 vert because I couldn't wait a few months for a 2017... Love the car

Now is the time to buy a left over '16 - killer deals abound. Wait for the '18 next summer (which will be likely be minor updates) and you'll pay top dollar

If you want the car now, and you can afford it now, don't wait. Go find a deal on a 2016. Do you really want to wait potentially two years for a refresh that may not actually perform any better, and its a gamble that it might look any better. The 5th gen refresh didn't do anything for performance....the only performance upgrade the 5th gen got was better suspension in the 2012 model year. The 6th gen already handles amazing.
Don't wait. I owned any early model 2010 5th gen. Sure, I wished my car had the 2012 interior refresh, or the 2013 model touch screen....but overall I was happier I already had my car and had already applied my own "touch" to it to make it unique. None of that made me want to trade for a newer model.

There's always something better in a couple years. You'll be waiting forever and never buy anything if you always wait for the next big thing. Or lease and get the latest greatest car every two years

The only change upcoming which would be worth it is the 10 speed auto if you want an auto trans. But there's no telling when it will replace the 8 speed. It could be a change for MY18 but I wouldn't bet on it. '16s can be had for great deals now.

I've been a camaro guy for decades and trust me when I tell you that we are living in the greatest "car era" of all times. No reason at all to wait a year. The deep discounts right now on the 16s are unbelievable and you can even negotiate a couple grand off a 17. Life is short, buy now!! you will not regret it!!

Guys, thank you all for your Input, The only updates that I was hoping to see on a 2018 Model year are the Front Parking Sensors and perhaps the 360 degree rear view camera which GM has put in the 2017 Volt & Cadillac XT5....If having these two updates are not even a possibility at all on the 2018 then I would just buy it now....
Thanks.... |

Front sensors? Maybe for the refresh as there isn't many spots where they can put them on the current front end design.... The 360 degree camera will probably not happen.
I would buy now as the front sensors won't protect you from what I would be concerned about which would be scrapping the bottom of the front end on something. |

Mid-cycle refresh is when I would guess the 10 speed and adaptive cruise (the only features the 6gen is really missing) will be available. Id expect that the Z/28 will be available at the same time, and they'll want to do 2 years of ZL1 before migrating over, my money is on MY19 for the refresh, but part of that is also me not wanting to get a 17 and have the 18s be that much better :(
