Paid in Full, Full Detail - Would you do it?
Ok - So my employer is coordinating a huge visit from Chevrolet executives tomorrow. I was just approached by the one of our executives who told me they want to stage my car from 2 - 5 pm outside in the parking lot. They basically want to display it.
The caveat is that the want me to have it fully detailed inside and out, tonight. She told me I could take it anywhere I want and they will reimburse me completely. So, my question is... Would you all jump on this?? I'm concerned about someone using a high speed on the car. I don't want any swirl marks. Plus, I don't feel like it needs a high speed. The paint is perfect and I've already put 3 layers of wax on it since buying it. I'm nervous about letting other people clean my car. However, I do know a very good shop close to my house. I suppose I could just have it detailed and tell them not to use the high speed... |

Yes. Just tell the detailer to NOT use a high speed. May cost a little more (?) but if it does, it's not coming out of your pocket once you get reimbursed.
I say go for it and have fun.

I agree a 5 minute conversation with your preferred detailer should resolve any concerns up front. What an honor to be chosen ....imo

Luke,
Explain to the detailer your concern... ...and I'm sure they can perform to your satisfaction. ...Awesome that - You were chosen and asked!.. ..................... ...Maybe...a photo op at the Warehouse too.... ![]() ![]() Becky |

If you're going to a reputable high end detailed why on earth would you be worried they are going to swirl up your paint?
They wouldn't have good reviews if that's what they did. |

Take it somewhere the exotics go. And have them polish and put opti on it. Although, you may have a hard time getting it there and getting it finished before tomorrow.

Does your 2017 really need to be detailed to look good for the Execs? Wash it yourself and bring to work to be "staged." My bigger concern would be when the car is staged what protection will it have from your fellow employees. Does your employer plan to have the proper display stands with straps around it to keep people a safe distance?

I don't know about the stanchion thing. But auto exhibits are what we do, so I'm sure the car will be well cared for. I really don't think people will be crowding around it or anything. I called this local detailing company and explained the situation. I'm sort of new to my company, but apparently they do a lot of work for us and the guy I talked to knows people here by first name. He said they would love to do the job and will make it look great for us. He also said they wouldn't use a high speed on my new paint. After talking to him, I feel pretty good about the whole thing. |

The purpose of a detail is to take swirls out, not put them in. I would know of no reason why a detailer would be using a compound on your new paint. I did a wash, clay, sealant, then real carnauba and BAM! If you do have swirl marks in your paint it probably came from the dealer applying a sealant, which is a rip off.
