Performance standards

I'm not a race car driver...although that'd be awfully cool. I bought a 16 ss , 8 speed auto, and my biggest problem is it has a data recorder built in. Long story short. Best 0 to 60 I've got is 4.8 seconds and best quarter mile is 13.3 seconds. I've tried it without the launch control but can't seem to do any better. Any ideas? Other than driver mod, lol.

It just takes practice. You will shave a lot of time off as you perfect your launch. I would try it without the launch control.

Have someone else drive it that can get a better time!

What raptor said. See it as a challenge to improve.

If it's like eastern Carolina where you're at then it's way hot and humid this time of year and the times will be several tenths slower. I'm gonna try mine again when it cools off in the fall.. Should be a half a second quicker on a cool night!

Does the car have to be in competition mode for the timer to work? I tried using it a couple times yesterday and it didn't record. I was in Track mode but not competition mode.

Me thinks you should just be really freaking happy with what you have and give it and you some time to break in.

Mostly because I just love driving my car and don't care if I can hit the "advertised" times.

Don't sweat it man. I'm running an M6 1SS and the best time I can get at the track is a 12.72. I'm cutting 2.1 60 foot times, which is not very good. Mind you, this track has exactly zero prep. I was pitted next to a bracket racer and was chatting with him. He said he looses 2-3 tenth at the track we were at because of the crappy starting line. So that made me feel good about my 12.72. Means I could see a 12.4x at a good track and even less with a better launch. My shifts are good, trap speeds are 115-117. You can make the most time in the first 60'.

Get your launch sorted out.

No. It can be in Sport or Track (with or without Competition Mode enabled) to use the Performance Timer pages. But you must be at a complete stop, reset the timer, and then it will ask you to hit SEL again. Once you do, it will start timing once you move the vehicle -- so if you're going to raise the RPM's, have a firm foot on the brake because any forward motion will start that timer.

Given the ebrake releases as soon as you start driving, would it work to apply the e brake to avoid forward movement until you launch?

We expect to see the Roto-fab CAI shave off a tenth or two in the 1/4. We're looking forward to seeing some more dyno numbers on this system. As I'm sure many of you know, we gained 12 HP on the chassis dyno before increasing our air box and filter size.

We fully expect to see gains of 15+ HP!

Thanks for your time and consideration.

NO TUNE!! The car that JDP tested our CAI on was a bone stock M6, with the only addition being the Roto-fab prototype CAI. In addition to our increase in air box and filter size, we also fine tuned the MAF sensor housing to run better fuel trims and air fuel ratios, so we are definitely expecting higher "no tune" gains than the 12 HP proven in the JDP test.

I know many of you have lost faith in the idea of a CAI making power on the LT1 setups, but we have brought something new to the table. I have attached a copy of the dyno sheet below:

This test shows the no tune, hood closed dyno comparision of the Roto-fab CAI to stock. As previously stated, our production intake is performing better than the prototype tested here. So we are very excited to see the no-tune gains of the production system.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about our system. I'm here to help any way I can.

Michael

Roto fab 1, I've read somewhere that your company has done some testing with blown engines but I can't find it again.
