What's the current poll auto vs stick showing today ...? Lol

According to some I guess 63.47% of us are not Muscle Car enthusiasts ...

I ordered mine on in Oct 2008 and Cyber Grey was not available until May. The order just sits there until the constraint is lifted. Maybe your dealer just didn't want to tie up his allocation.

Not really... the constraint went back and forth on that one and the flat black inserts were totally phased out while the $600 exposed option was actually offered for free to 2012 owners when no black was available.

Me Too!!! I'll wait as long as it takes, but until we see the words "contrained" next to auto trans, I don't put much weight in interim availability.

Fair enough.

But you had to be there back in the early to mid 1960's when OE automatics truly were only good for people who didn't view driving as something fun to do in and of itself. When people felt that the less they had to physically do along the way getting from here to there the better. That described people born before about 1930 much more than it did us older 'boomers' just coming of driving age at that time.

Some automatics didn't even have a 3-element torque converter, and were slow as molasses off the line as a result. Wouldn't even let you spin the tires on a launch on a wet road - crossing a rain-soaked crosswalk paint stripe was your best chance. The aftermarket performance automatic industry was in its infancy.

I haven't been 30 something for a long time but the expiration date on me is still good for now. My two speed powerglide wasn't exactly race ready from the factory. I wasn't fond of the whirring noise it made either. Reminded me of my mom mixing stuff in the kitchen with a blender. That being said I won't be stuck in Slowvakia on the Amazing Race cuz I do drive a stick.

Yours truly Sam Malone. Norm!........

This sucks. My 2SS has been wonderful and there is nothing I don't like about it except its not a ZL1. I bought a Challanger Hellcat this summer and its a great compliment to the Camaro. The Hellcat is better for long trips and fooling around. The Camaro is superior in handling and looks, to me. I was the first on my Dealers list to order. Now I wont be getting one till next year, maybe. By then the Hellcat maybe permanent. Having the 2SS wont go anywhere either if the 10 spd doesn't show up.

I'm perturbed by the results of that auto vs manual ordering poll. What happened to driver involvement? At what point do you just want the car to do everything for you? The "automatics are faster argument" is invalid because none of us are planning to race professionally with these 6th gen camaros. How can you look at yourself in the mirror after driving home an automatic ZL1? I couldn't do it.

With that level of thinking, why drive a car with abs or stm/tcm or computer fuel injection or anything else that's automatic.

I can look at myself just fine because I have a solid sense of self that isn't so feeble that it needs transmission validation.

I will however, look at you in my mirror as I leave you behind, gramps.

Also, your low post count and directed negative bias leaves me suspect of your true intentions here and if you're not just an alt-login of another member.

Well said. Let's not forget that the ZL1 is offered in a convertible and was meant to go as fast as possible in a straight line originally. Something autos have been doing for awhile now. Times change. Be thankful you have a choice of a manual still.

Good for you, glad to hear you have two legs that work, some people don't.

I was really on the fence about getting the manual or auto my heart was kinda leaning towards the manual, but I also felt like the auto just sounded like a god dayum ferarri lol, but after seeing a video of the 17 zl1 manual it has really sold me. Just shifting between gears with that much power idk but something about that just makes you feel bad ass at least for me. Maybe it's because I'm so young, but if I was older I'd definitely take the auto.

I decided I'm not playinging the games with this car that dealers and the manufacturer like to play with making it a chore to purchase a product from them. I went through to to get my current ZL1. I'll sit back and watch you folks fight the good fight. I'll get one when it gets easier. I definitely want an automatic no matter how many gears it has.
