How are you guys able to decide...I go back and fourth between transmission options daily...A10 sounds amazing, but who knows for reliability, could be mostly hype like the A8 was here on these forums. and its more $$ on an already expensive car. On the other side the M6 you could have the price of clutch replacement/s, shifter issues, and what if MY18/19 get the M7 or a newer revised M7, I'd feel left out lol.

"Mostly hype" is such an annoying statement. Mine has been perfectly fine and that includeshe multiple track days.
A10. Easily chosen. |

Everyone will have their own reasons. For me I've always had a stick. Swore I'd never get an auto in a sports car... Mine will be a occasional driver so daily traffic and clutching wasn't a factor. I just look at most of the supercars , and new trannys and most are DCT, PDK, dual clutch and the fact of the matter is nobody can manually shift as fast as them ... Also given that the manual is still the 6 my bet is 18 will have a M7 and I'll wanna shoot myself for having something outdated again .. Again to each their own but my decision is crystal clear. The A10 it is!!

Do you realize they would have to redesign the current m7 just for it to fit in this trans tunnel?

I refuse to believe that GM would allow this car to launch without the A10. If it's a question of holding production by several weeks to get things sorted out I believe they would do just that. The negative press that could eminate from not having it at launch would definitely be a bad pr move. Can they afford to do that? Time will tell. It seems impossible to think that the first buyers will all be manuals. The 350r crowd has that one covered. These are huge decisions no doubt. While I understand delaying certain options later in the model year I think this one is too big to get wrong.

I believe they did the same thing with the C7 Vette.

That said, if there is a modest delay, there won't be any bad press. When the Hellcat launched there were several options that they would happily let you order that ended up resulting in multi-month delays. No bad press at all, unless you went to the Hellcat forums and heard the anguished cries there. |

I've seen that a couple times, I think it's that the ZL1 (like the 1LE) are by definition "interim" since they're not immediately available at the launch of the 2017 model year. Thus why it's been linked to the interim wording for the A10 trans as it's not available either.

If you ignore the number of gears in both transmission types and assume that there would at least be enough of them to cover most of your driving situations, which would you choose then? If you think this sounds like having to imagine how well (or not) each transmission type is going to fit you and what you expect from your driving including the subjectives . . . you might be on to something.
