What will you do with yours?
I've been part of some sort of Camaro club for almost 20 years. First it was my lt1 Z28, then my ls1 SS. One of the things about owning one of these cars back then was the amount of competition there was being the first to achieve a specific goal. Who was going to be the first to the 12s, then 11s and 10s with nothing but bolt-ons. Though I was never in the running since I usually purchased my cars after the first year, it was fun watching what others were achieving with their stock and modified cars.
If or when I get one of the new Zs, my goal will be to have one of the quickest stock ZL1s. I know it's a very vague goal since alot of folks don't post their times online, but I can only shoot for whatever I see. I'm currently #2 on the stock ZL1 list on camaro5, but now it's time to move on. Simply put, I want to be able to prove this car to be 10 second capable...stock! On stock tires. I have the benefit of sea level tracks that are open well into the winter, as well as track rentals when the DA gets sub-arctic.

New Rims and tires (not a stock rim guy) intake and exhaust (not fond of the factory sound)....a pulley, if possible without a tune! Tune after the Warranty.

Road America in Wisconsin. That track is made for cars like a ZL1.

Keep it all stock with the exception of possibly doing Corsa double helix exhaust mod. MAYBE headers down the line but would love try tri-y's from the factory. It would be my DD except for on rainy days. I'm on the fence though since my round trip is 80 miles to and from work... I'd hate to "waste" such a capable and expensive car on boring highway miles... What do you all think?
Edit: I'd also track it every now and then |

Delete secondary cats, transfer my ported TB to the ZL1 from the SS and wait for intake, xpipe, tune.
Drive it for a while... a year and a half or 2 years down the road, send it to lingenfelter for their "stage 2" aka 750 hp package (planning on mild cam to squeeze some top end, pulley, ported & polished heads so the lingenfelter package is perfect as it adds a couple more extra things to my original plan). I will mostly just cruise, hit up cars and coffee, backroads and with this one, actually track it. |

I'll leave it stock.
The car is a bad azz factory hot rod right off the showroom floor. I'll just drive it home and say, "done". |

Keep in mind you will not be able to mod the 17's quite yet. New software in ECM is not able to be cracked just yet. Tried to read a new 50th with hp tuners. No workie. contacted hp tuners support and sent them the info logs from the scanner. They said something has changed for 17 and there is no eta when they will tackle it. For now it's wait and see.
