Momentary stall after shift

At my age this should not be an issue but it is. Took a few select people for a ride showing how impressive this 3.6 engine is. The car: 2016 1LT with 3.6 hooked to 6 speed manual. Everyone who drove it noticed the same ( phrases I've used to describe this in other cars I've owned) it is also a momentary issue.
Here they are, short stall after shift, falls on its face, dies after quick shift, bogs for a second after quick shift. No wonder the automatic is a tick quicker although I don't think the drivers of the manuals are coming off the lights with tires churning.

Has anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? Special note. If you bring it right up to redline in first and make a very deliberate and foot completely off the accelerator shift to second it will bark the tires when you catch second gear but still a LONG TIME SLOW SHIFT.

Any ideas ???

It sounds like torque management kicking in. Torque management is basically a set of mechanisms that the ECU utilizes to help protect the drivetrain and transmission. The ECU will actually pull timing and fuel to reduce the torque delivered after the shift, which is what you may be feeling. This is one of the things folks typically get tuned out or reduced when they get a professional tune. You can try to see if you disable the nannies to see if it will relax the torque management values. If you have competitve mode on the 1LT, double tap the traction control button and see if it makes a difference. When you turn the nannies off for "track/closed course" type driving they may let it shift a bit harder, but I you will have to test it out. Be careful if you try this...

I just found this out the hard way in my SS!! In Track/competitive mode it spins the tires hard and gets all over the place!!! Be very careful with TC off!!!

I have the V6/M6 and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary when shifting.

The only thing I have noticed is it is difficult to shift from first to second gear smoothly. But I thought that was just me being rusty from not having a manual since 2007.

I don't have a competative mode on mine. But when I shift fast from 6K with nannies on it will bark the tires, when I do so with nannies off it will squeal them 10 or 15 feet. My grandson just loves it when I do that. Don't tell his mother.

Nice! Yeah, it sounds like the Traction control kicks in,which only lets you get a chirp of the tires but with it off you can light them up. I usually advise folks to keep the Stabilitrak on so just in case you spin them to much and get sideways it can help straighten the car out. There are a lot of folks that have never owned a high power rear wheel drive car and it can be a handful if you don't respect the power. Especially, if it is the slightest bit wet out...

I only have the base model V6 LT. It only offers Touring, Sport and Ice and Snow. I tried turning the traction control off but NO difference. It just bogs after quick shift.

The best way I can explain it would be if you were taking it to a 1/4 mile drag strip and you were lined up,against a Mustang. That 1, 2 shift would be very important. It only occurs with a real quick shift and not lifting the throttle much. If you make your shift deliberate and slow the transition down from full throttle, then off, then clutch then shift (you get THR picture) it will bark the rears and turn all the youngsters heads. I intend on taking it to a few track days (road course) where this I'm sure will not be an issue. It just bugs me that's all.

I had the same issue on my 1ss 6mt, and I believe its what they mentioned earlier. It only does it in stabilitrack for me, once I go all off full track mode, it doesn't do it anymore.

So track makes it not do it, but sport still does?

My 2013 V6/M6 always had a slight pause when shifting to 2nd. I've been driving a stick for decades but could never this one to shift smoothly consistently. A ported throttle body and cold air intake seemed to help a little bit.

If you are running the car up to redline then you are hitting the fuel cutoff during the shift and you are losing power so it feels like its stalling. The stock tach is very slow especially in the upper RPM band. Shift a bit earlier and it wont shut off the fuel.

I only have touring, sport and snow and ice. Neither mode changes anything.
