Torque Converter Clutch Failure

I just found out that is why my car has been shaking during acceleration when pressing the pedal lightly "cruisin". The service shop got to my car late in the afternoon and only was able to diagnose the car, and I was told they have to contact GM, etc. and a passenger has to ride in the car while someone drives it to log the information. Can anyone tell me if this problem should have me worried about other transmission issues in the future from this part failing and also is there anything that I should check for whenever I get the car back?

GM has TC issues with some 8sp. My friends 16 CTS-v 8sp was replaced at 500. Gm has a service bulletin out on it. Exact symptoms you described. His has been good to go since replaced.

In 8th gear if I apply light throttle I think my car vibrates or shakes slightly. Is this similar to your problem? My transmission was replaced before this though and there's other problems with it still.

Yep that was my exact problem , I use to ride in manual mode and keep it in 7th gear to avoid the shaking, it also happens in 6th gear a little bit

Thank you very much for the reply! The dealership said there's nothing wrong with my car so this will hopefully help.

Search some 2016 CTS-V forums for the bulletin.

With all the test drives, logging, etc. The dealer has put 54 miles on my car so far that I can see via onstar. I was also told the warranty claim was approved by gm today and they are special ordering the part with no eta on arrival. It's been 4 days now. I really feel they put excessive miles on my car even if they were diagnosing the problem.

The part has been at the dealership since Saturday, but they still have not even started on my car yet, was giving an estimate of Thursday afternoon for work to be complete.

Was told to arrive at dealership at 6 to pick up car, waited around until 8 pm to be told they don't have enough fluid to fill the transmission and car would be ready tommroow afternoon, kinda left a bad taste in my mouth as I have to delay my vacation

That's really unfortunate that you're having to wait after being told to come pick up your car. I hope that your car is good to go when you do get it.

Was told to come in at 12 to pick the car up, and they cannot figure out why it won't start, they have not even test drove it yet, this is terrible.

#44470: 44470 Torque Converter With Piston Apply Surface Not Machined - (Jun 7, 2016)
Subject: 44470 Torque Converter With Piston Apply Surface Not Machined

Models: 2016 Cadillac CT6
2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Condition
Certain 2016 model year Chevrolet Camaro and Cadillac CT6 vehicles, equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission (RPO M5T or M5N), may have been built with an incorrectly machined torque converter pressure plate. Over time, this condition could result in a shudder or vibration, fluctuations on the tachometer and possible torque converter failure.

Correction
Replace the transmission.
