Removing the retaining pins
I had the 2011 Camaro at the dealer for a rear brake job last week. I had a feeling they were going to tell me to change the rotors but I didn't say anything when I left it there. I got the first call 30 min later saying the tech wants to turn the rotors down. I told him to go ahead. Called back 15 min later, can't get the rotors off. I told him to leave the rotors alone and just change the pads. Calls back 15 min later telling me they can't get the retainer pins out that hold the pads in the calipers. He wanted to cut them off and had to order the pins. I told him to put it back together and I'll be down to pick it up. I ordered 2 rotors brake pad kit and 2 sets of pins with the plan to do it myself today. Well, I took the wheels off and the first thing I find is they didn't put the rotor retainer screw back in on both rear rotors. They are loose and can be pulled of by hand once the calipers are out of the way. The I find the pins are peened over and can be knocked out.
Has anyone else had issues getting the retainer pins out? I'm ready to drop it off with them again and tell him here's the parts fix it.

Those pins can get froze on due to rust. They are supposed to be greased during install, but even with that, years and thousands of miles of use can stick them on. Spray them with PB Blaster and they come off pretty easy.
They should have put back the rotor retainer screws, but if they did not, it will not really hurt anything because the wheels being properly torqued will hold the rotor against the hub properly.
