Has anyone else done an extended warranty?
I just updated the Newbie thread with some details. I wanted to cover the mechanics of my Vert with a warranty as well as the electronics. I called Becky after yet another bad dealer experience. If you have not explored an extended warranty, I would reach out to her if you have any interest. You don't have to buy from the dealer you bought your car from. My dealer was pitching a third party warranty. Becky offers a Chevrolet extended warranty.

I intend on getting an extended warranty as well. Even got some pricing upfront to get an idea of the cost but was told the cost wasn't set in stone. Now that you mention it though, I'm not sure if it was for a GM or a third party warranty so I'm going to check into that.

I was offered a 3rd party warranty through Zurich. After turning it down twice (2nd time was 50% cheaper than what the original price was) they offered me a cheaper extended warranty through GM that lasted an extra year and 10,000 more miles than what the Zurich one would have covered.
I'm guessing the dealerships make more money off of the 3rd party warranty, otherwise they'd offer the GM warranty up front.

I was not offered an extended warranty! So I didn't even think about it.

I usually turn down all the crap that they offer. I did buy a couple of things from them an unlimited paintless dent repair package for 5 years unlimited mileage for $895. God knows my 2010 had several dings that I had a PDR guy remove. Got one recently that's still there. And LoJack as I do leave the car with the top down and go frolicking someplace. But now that I think about it, I didn't really need LoJack because that car has OnStar.

Possibly. But with a warranty I am limiting my risk. Having had to replace two air bag sensors in the last car, I will take the insurance on the electronics alone, let alone the mechanics.
