Help, Interior lighting issue

I have had the issue of not being able to set different color lights to different drive modes. I get the "Color Selection not available in this mode - Selecting a color is not possible using this setting of the interior lighting feature" I have searched thru the threads and have found a few old threads but have not seen anything about anyone getting it to work. I finally brought it to my dealer and they have been working on it for a day plus and can't get it corrected. They have told me that have talked with GM and still no solution. Can some one out there that had this issue and has got it fixed let me know how and or what the dealer did to get it done I would certainly appreciate it.

When I first got my car I had that glitch a couple times. What would happen for me is on the lighting screen in MyLink, where you normally have the 4 icons in the middle to set a custom color, linked to mode, off or show mode -- those would be missing and it would be a blank screen.

At the bottom of that same screen, you'd still see the color picker button. When you'd press it, you'd get that error message because while the icons weren't showing above, it would still be in Linked Mode and thus not allow you to select a custom color.

I had to turn the car off and let it sit a bit and then the screen would come back if going back to the color options.

I've not messed with it much since because I leave mine in Linked Mode. But, that's what I would have happen to me.

Different people have had varying success with not using remote start to start the car. Of course, people with the M6 have had the issue as well so can't be sure that it's resolved that way.

For my personal experience, the menu appeared black each time I remote started the car until I did a regular start. Since then, it's been fine. Looks like it might have just been coincidence though.

Now that I think about it.. Most all times I've run in to this issue, I also did remote start. So, it's possible it's related to the coding that triggers the full system's power up and it not fully being recognized.

I have had the car for 7 weeks I have never used remote start. I have tried to get the lights to match up more times then I can count to no avail. I even took the car to a Customer appreciation night at the dealer, spent time with one of the GM trainers and new the car in and out. Showed him the problem, he agreed that it was not working right. So I brought it in and now it's been 2 days and no fix. I'm looking for help with a solutionI appreciate everyones discussions but has anyone found someone to talk to that has a fix.

I was under the assumption that you can't change the preset colors for each drive mode. You can either pick a color and it stays that color regardless of drive mode, or you select change with mode and it will be blue for tour, red for sport, orange-ish for track, and white-ish for snow/ice modes.

I've tried what you're describing and my car doesn't allow it.

Sport mode is red, tour is blue, track is yellow/orange, snow/ice is an icy blue. If you put it in Link to drive mode, those are the colors you're getting, can't change it. Light show will cycle through all the colors, or you can just pick a color under the custom color option. Or turn the lights off.

That kinda sucks.. So you can't set the track to be pink and the tour to be red? I was assuming you could... looks like i'll be picking the color I like and just leaving it there then.

I have had the same issue and it had nothing to do with the remote starting. The interior lighting was off and when I went into the interior light settings and tried to set it the following message appeared, "Color Selection not available in this mode - Selecting a color is not possible using this setting of the interior lighting feature". The driver mode was Tour and the link to driver mode icon was missing. This issue seams to be intermittent because the interior lighting does work correctly at other times. Is there updated software available to fix this issue?

FOUND IT! you're going to kick yourself for this one... the dashboard brightness knob (left of steering wheel above the HUD controlls) take it 1 click down from max and they go off unless u press button.

just figured how to get out of the error screen, so you can gain control of the display...with car off, push start button w/o your foot on the brake. in this accessory mode, you can adjust the colors.
