How do you stop your iPhone from auto playing music?

It didn't bother me before but it's starting to get on my nerves, so I figured I'd ask. If you're listening to the radio and are using a driving app like Waze, Escort Live, or ALP Connect and get an alert through the speakers, the car switches from playing the radio right into playing music from my iPhone. It seems to happen no matter what - I won't even have iTunes or Music open in my iPhone and it just decides to open my music and start playing even though I was listening to sports on the radio. I just want it to go back to what it was doing before receiving the alert.

It's been doing this since day one regardless if I'm plugged in or not, or in CarPlay or MyLink. The only way I can figure out how to stop it is to un-pair my phone, which is ridiculous. My crappy 2012 Charger doesn't even do this. There has to be a way to stop this without un-pairing, but I can't figure it out.

It's an iOS issue. I've seen several threads about it in the Audio subform. Maybe one of the guys with an Apple device will confirm.

It's an Apple issue ...
Make sure you running the Software Update IOS 9.3.2

When I updated....that issue went away.

Just checked, I have iOS 9.3.2, but my phone starts playing music as soon as it connects via Bluetooth. I really wish the radio/phone would let me decide if I wanted to listen to my playlist or to the radio.

Other than that...LOVE the car...just sometimes, it can be too smart for its own good. LOL

Thanks for the responses. I'm on 9.3.2 and it still happens regardless of Carplay being connected or not. However I don't have the latest update to MyLink though that gives you Android Auto. Do you think that's what's causing this?

If I do need the Android Auto MyLink update, does that require a reflash of the Engine Control Module or is it an independent update that only impacts the entertainment center?

My 2015 Impala LTZ did the same thing. It was really flustrating. I dont think it has done it since I updated my Iphone last week. Also if my wife got in the car first it would connect to her Iphone and start playing... Crazy.

Do you have Android Auto available in your Impala?

The best part is when you are on the phone and plug it in and the phone call AND music start auto playing

My Galaxy Note 4 auto plays the last audio I was listening to (normally Spotify or Clark Howard Podcast) when it automatically connects to bluetooth on vehicle startup.

If I have a USB flash drive connected in a USB port, that takes priority and it starts auto playing!

This is a nice feature to have but is annoying sometimes.

There is no setting in the radio for this?
