If the hellcat comes out with less curb weight, better stock rubber, and 750hp, how will the zl1 be able to compare? Will the 6.2 have to be killed and a new engine take place?

No, I'd bet they'll either increase efficiency within the same displacement/psi, or an increase in psi, displacement, and/or efficiency. I'm sure it'll be like an ls1, ls6, ls2, etc. evolution.....at least I hope so.

They don't have to have more hp than the new hellcat, they just have to be faster around the track and in the 1/4 mile (i.e. Weight distribution, power to weight ratio, gearing, etc)

Having a shitload of hp and not being able to use is like having an 18" dick, sure it's fun to talk about and show off, but its still pointless if you can't put it to work.

Speaking of putting it to use the article talks about a possible Barracuda in 2019. To borrow from your analogy I don't want to have sex 3 years from now. I live in the moment. Lol.

Besides my doctor says an erection lasting more than 3 years isn't healthy. Just sayin!

Haha, I want to now and then!!!

But I'm sure the z06/zl1 will have increases in power before then, I certainly don't see them "killing off" the current engines that would only be 5 years old. To me that sounds like they will just start from scratch rather than evolve the engine like the ls series. Hell, look how long ford nursed that anemic 4.6 around.

No source quoted. Sounds like wishful thinking. Didn't a source in FCA confirm it would be after 2020 for the next car less than 2 months ago.

The info I've seen says 2020 for any re-design of the Challenger. Just incremental updates. Surprised me to be honest, but I personally love the body style. I don't think it should even be compared to a Mustang or Camaro, but I guess since the Challenger Hellcat is the most powerful muscle car ever built everyone is gunning for it. It's a completely different class of car. The only thing it has in common with a Camaro or Mustang is it has two doors and is made by a US manufacturer (in Canada and Mexico LOL )

If Chevy developed a 800HP Silverado would we compare it to a Mustang or Challenger?

If Chevy made an 800hp Silverado, I'd be the first out the gate for one!

Pull up next to a 5.0 at a light with my boat hooked up to it and blow his doors off with an 800hp Chevy truck towing a 600hp big block Chevy jet boat.....it don't get no more 'merica than that, boys. lol

I would be in line to get a 800hp Silverado too! Make it all wheel drive! Would be a beast!

Awd would be awesome! If I had the cash laying around I'd pick up a typhoon or syclone though.

The Challenger or HC shouldn't be compared to a camaro or mustang? The ZL1 is going to change that argument soon enough.

Actually saw tons of them today as its the Atlantic Nationals Car Extravaganza this weekend here in Moncton... I would have killed to have driven down the strip in my new ZL1... Can't wait!
