I wish women came equipped with skipshift and not my car.
Going straight from 1st base to 4th base sure would save some time and money.

I experienced skip shift for the first time when my parents bought a C7 a few weeks ago. I borrowed the car for half a day and it happened once or twice. Caught me by surprise. I was like, "oh, that's skip shift". Since I was just cruising along, it still pulled just fine in 4th.

It's not like it's a new feature on a Camaro. It's been included with all manuals since, what, at least 1993?

Some do...but they only save time, not so much money

Skip shift is pretty easy to drive around. I rarely see it.

Anyone else have this problem?
It doesnt actually stop you from going into second- it merely tries to guide you into 4th.

if you hold the shifter to the inside (towards the driver) it still goes into second.

I'm learning to let the transmission do what it wants - if that means slightly better mileage. it's no big deal either way.

I'll call BS on that. It grinds like a whore on the dance floor if you try forcing it into 2nd with skip-shift.

No, there is an actual lock out that is electronically controlled. At a certain rpm in 1st gear the CAGS solenoid will lock out 2nd and 3rd gear until either the car is out of the rpm range, or 4th gear is touched.

When you say you can get in 2nd, you are most likely getting just outside the rpm range.

Now, it only requires that 4th gear is touched, it doesn't have to be engaged. So you can move the stick shift quickly to 4th, and then to any gear you want. Or, of course, either rev the car, or coast the car out of the CAGS rpm range.

It literally pops up saying Skip shift and blocks out 2nd to 3rd. I agree though it is annoying and I plan on buying one of those kits to get rid of it. 20ish bucks is what I found so far. I didn't buy a 6 speed for it to tell me when I can shift. Also though if you pull it up to 3k it lets you shift whenever. I actually found that shifting at 3-3.5k seems to be perfect sweet spot anyways... lets you hear that amazing 6.2 rumble out the exhaust while bald eagles fly out of it!
