It's tough. I pick up tomorrow but it's like time is standing still.

I have that one and a sticker like the one Lukemo posted.

I need a little advice on washing and maintaining this beautiful car. When I picked it up at the dealer they had washed it and I could still see rail dust in all the crevices so I know they didn't do the best job. Yes I read all the posts about not letting the dealer wash it but I know nothing about washing cars so I figured they'd do a better job to start. Well obviously after 10 days on a train they didn't.

So I started reading the forum about washing/detailing your car. OMG seriously it's overwhelming to me. That Glen guy keeps telling me it's not overwhelming but considering I've never even heard 1/2 of these terms before it is overwhelming, whether or not he thinks it is.

What I've done is hired a detailer today to clay my car to get all of the contaminants off of the paint, and to wash it really well to get it squeaky clean. Then he is waxing it also. I figure this gives me a better fresh start - done by an expert instead of me.

Now it's mine to maintain and here is where I need you guys. I'm not going to spend 6 hours washing my car but I could do 2 or 3 every week - if I knew what products to use & what order to use them in.

I've read up on the two bucket method and the rinseless method and I think I can do those things. Glen says to use a polish & sealant instead of a wax, it looks easy enough on you tube videos. I guess I just don't want to screw it up - so please, tell me what your methods are, what are your favorite products, and what you like to do to your car, how often do you do it, how do you clean the brake dust, etc.

I'm tired of sorting through the washing forum where everybody is an expert but I don't understand any of them. You guys I like! What do you do to keep your babies clean?

Looking forward to any responses.

Well the detailer just left and wow I didn't think this blue color could get any nicer. WOW. It's amazing. More sparkles and just more brilliant color. Now, I've got to keep it this way. 10 year old Honda Odyssey goes through the drive through car wash - this one, obviously NOT!

If I may offer a suggestion... Go to www.adamspolishes.com. There are of course many other quality car care companies out there but this is the one that I know many forum people use, as do I. They have videos on how to use all of their products and you can get yourself started easily with a combo kit like the basic wash and wax setup, etc.

I wouldn't worry much about polishing just yet, particularly since the car is brand new, but you eventually might want to look into those products. For now, quality car shampoo, wash pads, two buckets with at least one grit guard, a few quality microfiber towels (single soft is fine), and a drying towel would get you going for the wash and then buttery wax and/or the H20 Guard and Gloss. So again, the basic wash and wax kit is a good deal. For interior work, I recommend their Total Interior Detailer. It's the bee's knees for keeping a clean interior clean and protected.

Hope that helps and no, they didn't pay me to say all that. I just talk too much.

Check out Adams Polishes. I've become a big fan of theirs. Their products work great for what i need and they make everything extremely simple to use and understand.

Is there an echo in here? Lol.

Also, to add to my write-up above, Adams Detail Spray is worth its weight in gold.

For the once a week or so wash, I just use one bucket, with whatever car wash soap I pick up. I've used Dawn as well.

I put 5 clean microfiber cloths and some cheap shop rags in the bucket, and use them one at a time on different parts of the car. The cloths go in the laundry with the bathroom towels, unless they look pretty bad. The shop rags get the wheels and tires, and get thrown out.

1. Gather supplies
- (2) Microfiber wash mitts, several microfiber towels, several terry cloth towels, (2-3) drying towels, soap, glass cleaner, trim shine, quick detailer, Grade # 0000 steel wool, (2) buckets.
2. Drive to a coin operated spray wash and pressure wash the outside of the car first. This gets rid of a lot of loose surface dust/dirt. DO NOT DRY THE CAR. Drive it home.
3. Fill one bucket with soapy water. Fill one with plain water.
4. Start on Wheels. Soak with water. Wash with micofiber wash mitt. Rinse in clean water bucket. Between each wheel, dump dirty plain water bucket and fill it back up again. Repeat until done with wheels.
5. Dump both buckets, rinse them out, and refill them. Discard dirty microfiber mitt.
6. Soak car with water. Start on roof of car. Wash roof, hood, windshield, rear window, and truck lid, periodically rinsing the soap off the car and rinsing your wash mitt. Try to do 1 - 2 panels at a time.
7. Move to front (headlights/bumper/grill), then rear (taillights/bumper), periodically rinsing as before.
8. Move to passenger side, then driver side. Same process: wash a little, rinse a little. Keep your wash mitt as clean as possible.
9. Dry car. Use super absorbent towel to soak up most of the water. Start w/ windows. Then roof, hood, trunk lid... same sequence as washing. Then, go back over with soft drying towel, wiping up remaining water. Open doors, dry sills and A/B pillars. Open trunk/hood dry painted areas underneath. Keep an eye on drying towel. If it gets dirty, use a clean spot on towel or replace it.
10. Use terry towel or similar soft towel to dry wheels. Get in all the cracks/crevices.
11. Spray tires w/ tire shine. Spray black plastic grill pieces with trim shine. Use microfiber towel to remove overspray from paint.
12. Use quick detailer to shine car. Spray it on paint and wipe off with micofiber. Go over entire car.
14. Clean windows. EXTERIOR ONLY: Spray w/ glass cleaner and scrub with Grade # 0000 superfine steel wool. Wipe off with clean window towel. DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL INSIDE WINDOW. Spray inside with glass cleaner. Wipe off with clean window towel. Be careful not to touch your paint with the steel wool either.

* Don't wash your car in direct sunlight.
* If using the steel wool, keep towels separate from other towels at all times
* Takes about 1.5 - 2 hours
