Hope you all had a great 4th!

Heard from GM this morning, I'm at 4300. Shipped and BAYED... Argh.

Have any of you had any luck getting access to your car's OnStar so you can track its whereabouts during the shipping phase? My dealer is pushing back on that approach.

I have heard this is possible. I don't know how to do it but I would like to if possible! Any insight people?

From what I gleaned in the thread, the dealer has to activate the account. From there, you must:
· Get account # from dealer
· Sign up online (or download the app)

FYI's: Takes 24-48 hours to update; if the car sits for too long, it goes into sleep mode and won’t work

The challenge I'm facing is HOW to get the dealer to agree to activate the account. Appears some folks accomplished that by finalizing the sale before the car arrived. There's no way I'm agreeing to that - far too risky. My hope is that they'll activate the account as a courtesy but that may be a pipedream.

I'm trying to demonstrate to my dealer that it's okay/appropriate to activate the account BEFORE the sale is completed. Although, frankly, I'm not sure if that's actually true. I'm combing the OnStar tracking thread again but haven't come across any such confirmations yet.
