UPDATE:

So after a letter went to GM, and I rec'd my deposit back......

GM contacted me, and "persuaded" me to continue to work with the dealer.
In their opinion, the dealer is the only entity that can/will "make this right", to my satisfaction.

So, I (reluctantly) went back in and signed a Sales Agreement (blank numbers) for a new '17 car.
I was given a workbench ASAP, and was told that my order would be "their first '17".

As GM was now aware/involved, plus I was given a workbench, I was "satisfied" (not "pleased", just satisfied) that all would FINALLY work out.

As of yesterday, my TPW is set for 6/27/16.
As I assumed that the shutdown was the weeks of 6/27 and 7/4, I did question the date.

As per both 1-800-GM-DRIVE and Becky (I PM'd her-she's great), the TPW is valid/legit.

"Paul,
Just had it confirmed -
The week of July 4th is shut down.

Becky"

Now, the last hurdle will be re-negotiating the rate. Not looking forward to that...but knowing that it's in-progress and legit, I am finally making progress!!!!

Thanks to all for the advice and assistance!

Paul.

Thought about the "Fifty", but I'm not a huge fan of Nightfall Grey.

Plus, a specialty car's Canadian allocation would likely really suck!

Nope, just a 2SS, 6 spd, Hyper Blue, Kalahari with Nav and NPP. Nothing too exotic.

Cheers.

Personally, I would not have given that dealership another chance, even though GM is involved. I would have filed a complaint with GM Canada, made them (GM) accountable to dealing with the dealership's actions and how some customers are being treated, and gone elsewhere; dealerships are like banks, their a dime a dozen, but that's my opinion.

I wish you much better luck the second time around, we're all pulling for you.

I don't like the package they put together, and it won't be available until summer, which probably means fall delivery.

All '17's have the "Fifty" logo on the bottom of the steering wheel to commemorate the anniversary year.

I live in Quebec and ordered my 16 1SS on january 28. I got swapped for a 17 two weeks ago and I now have a TPW for June 27. It took six months to get a TPW and now they say the plant goes on break for two weeks during that time. And they still advertise the 2016 on their site... Unbelievable.

Hi Frank.

There is a little more to it, as I did go to a different dealer, to try to do a deal as well. They had a hyper blue, 6 sp car.
However, even after trying to do a deal, and even using the $750 pop up that I was eligible to use (good until 5/29), I wasn't able to get a deal done.

Laurence (scrape) and I went to 3 or 4 dealers as well.
My initial deal was good. I had a decent discount....
Two months later, as the car was getting scarce, and allocation tight or non-existent, most dealers are not willing to negotiate too much....

As much as I hated it, I was better off to go back, squeeze them and know that 'cause GM is now involved, no more f'ing around with my order and internal allocation (they dare try to "bump" me now....!).

I apologize for all of the BS, and long threads....but until I do get my car, I still feel that it's good to advise/inform others re Foss Thornhill.

The thing is, I had to convince the Mrs re this whole thing.....Apart from the runaround, I also have the wife yelling at me to drop the whole thing....
I can't win.....getting it from both ends!

Anyhow, my TPW is valid and the car will be here before I know it!
Thankfully!

6/27 is a valid TPW.

The shutdown is the week of 7/4...

Never apologize for something YOU didn't do, I know your frustration, I went through it with my C7.

You need a stress reliever, try to come out to the cruise on June 5th, I'll let you ride "shotgun" with me.

Hey sstoronto and gang, well I had been talking about my car and how I cant seem to get info. Well today it has finally been a bit more clarified. Its lost! They are not sure where it is or what happened to it. On Monday they are going to send an employee to physically walk the lot in Toledo to see if that is where my car is. Supposedly it landed in Toledo on May 10. Was built 4/4. So I told the dealer if its still there it can stay there and I will order a ZL1 instead. Why am I so lucky! so guess I will find out Monday. Is it me do you guys think I am overreacting?

Sorry to hear that....Yet, I'm not even surprised!

GM has a captive audience of enthusiasts, wanting and willing to drop 50K on a car, and yet for every well-handled, smooth sale, there's a story of a not so great sales/delivery experience.

The company that was "too big to fail" has not learned much over the past 7-8 yrs.

How the heck do you lose a car?

If they can't find it, and you want to order a ZL1 (god only knows why you want to start the process all over), tell them that the price on the original bill of sale stands.
If it were me, I would tell them "you can look for the car all you want, give me my deposit back, I'm DONE!, and you know what you can do with the car IF you ever find it.

Why are all the horror stories with the Canadian orders...GM Canada is like the CDN government, they're there to represent you, but they haven't got a clue what they're doing!

Its amazing for sure. The worst part is I had a feeling something was wrong and talked to people over and over asking for better information and could never get a real answer. I told my salesman it needs to be here this coming week, that will be 4 weeks since it arrived at Toledo more than enough time to get here and if not then I will wait for a ZL1. I was so stoked to get this car what a disappointment that GM does not have their act together. The twilight zone for sure lol

Confirmed BUILT!!!
Finally, after the headache and general BS, it's alive!

DJGold was also to be built during the 6/27 TPW as well.......Hope that one got built too.

Now, we wait for pricing, and hope that it doesn't get "held up", as GM Canada fiddles around as we wait for them to release the price!

For now, just happy to know that it's been built!

Thanks for the advise/support thus far!

Cheers.
