bassolis, I am glad to hear this. Mine is a Galaxy s5. I considered upgrading to the s7 edge, but was concerned about the charging. Does Android Auto work with it?

I'm pretty happy that my iPhone 6S will fit just fine. I don't want a bigger phone than this...that's what my iPad is for.

Got the Android Auto update in April and it works well with the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Did you guys have to have Android Auto installed on the car before your android phone would charge?

No. Android Auto is totally unrelated to wireless charging.
If you have a phone that supports wireless charging, then it will charge OK if it fits in the wireless charging tray behind the center console.
I have a Moto X android phone with a wireless charging adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YGV76LK/ that worked fine on the one occasion I had to charge my phone in the car.

I haven't felt the need to get Android Auto installed yet, especially as it only works with a wired connection. Usually my phone stays in my pocket and connects via Bluetooth.

Huh. Ok. I bought a thing to put in my S4 Galaxy that I couldn't get to work. It was supposedly compatible with both standards and seemed to fit the phone nicely, but I could never get it to charge.

Try this one for a galaxy S4 https://www.amazon.com/Qifull-Ultra-...dp/B00IP8V878/
Should work fine.

I have an s6 and can only get it to work intermittently when I remove the rubber tray. Going to try later without my case to see if that's the issue.

Yes, a thick phone case will stop it charging.

OK, does an update cost money? Sorry my tray looks like a piece of plastic.
