"Satin-black vinyl hood, front mirrors and 1LE three-piece rear spoiler" - Hotrod Mag Yes, the splitter and diffuser are graphite and painted (My mistake above). The mirrors and 3 piece spoiler are wrapped. I confirmed this with the Camaro Engineers at the 1LE Release. That is incorrect. The mirrors and spoiler are painted pieces. No way could the factory wrap those intricate mirrors anyway. Mr. Wyndham has confirmed this a few times...he was actually at the release as well. The majority of the employees milling around a reveal aren't engineers. I'm sure Mr. Wyndham will pop in and confirm. Doesn't matter to me either way, as I plan on leaving the matte black on.

Also what is weird to me is that the LT 1LE splitter will be in satin black but the SS will get Satin Graphite while the hood, mirrors, and spoiler is Satin Black. I would rather have it all matching like LT 1LE. http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...10-camaro.html I will end up changing them all out to match. |

And the body color will be a big part of that overall decision as well. |

I would always have to explain the matte hood on my 1LE to non-car people. I would have to say, no it is supposed to look that way. It reduces glare when on the race track. They would look at me like I am crazy.
I personally liked the look of it. The only thing I didn't like was caring for it. One time it got some hard water spots on it that kind of baked on and I was never really able to ever remove them. Also, ever few washes I would have to treat it with a vinyl cleaner or it would start to look too dull. When you use the vinyl cleaner or any of the Adams products you have to work to get a nice even application otherwise you will just get a bunch of streaks. The good new is it is fairly inexpensive to replace it. You can buy some new 3M wrap for about $100 but then you need to find someone skilled to put it on. I recall on the 5th Gen that is was not installed at the factory. Actually, after the car came off the line it was driven a few miles down the road to a 3rd party shop to have the wrap installed. That explained why the 1LEs arrived at the dealers with a few extra miles on them. If you hate it, you can peel it off. There are a few guys that did so on their 5th gens and took pics. The paint was perfect and it was easy to get all the adhesive off. A few guys actually removed the wrap and painted the hood flat black... |

I personally like the look. I would prefer that it was a matte or satin paint rather than a wrap. Throw back to the old '69 Dodge Coronet Super Bee package, '70 Challenger T/A, '70 Plymouth 'Cuda AAR, '69 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 and Mach1. The idea is nothing new for sure...

I like it and will keep it. After a few years if it gets dinged up I will remove it and have a new look to enjoy!
