If it was me I would drive by the dealer to see if it's on the back lot...and want to see your car..no questions asked...PERIOD!!!!

Sadly, my salesman called me this afternoon. The car did come in a few nights ago after all. And it's damaged. Apparently there was a large dent on the driver side door. My salesman confirmed that he and his manager were worried about how they were going to tell me, which is why he kept trying to delay and avoid getting back to me. Looks like my gut was right after all.

By the time he had called me, they had already sent it off to the body shop. I told them that once it got back from there, I would drive down and look at it in person. Keep in mind that the dealership is 2 and a half hours away from me. If I'm not happy with the result, or if I find any other issues, I will not accept the car. My salesman did not argue this at all, and accepted my terms. They did not offer to make it up to me in anyway or to reimburse me for my inconvenience, and that really stuck out to me.

So...now I wait. If I look at it and don't like it, I will end up re-ordering, and this time I will go with Becky. I'm perfectly ok waiting the 6 weeks or whatever it ends up being. Maybe if he had just been upfront with me in the beginning, I would've given him the chance to make it right. I have never been hot headed or anything, and I do not feel that I ever gave the impression that I'm easily angered, so I do not understand why they felt they needed to hide it from me for a few days.

But, hopefully the repair will be perfect, the paint will all match, and no other issues will be present. If that's the case, I will still move forward with this one.

I really feel sorry for you....If it was me and they didn't knock off a lot for the damage I really would have to pass on the car...You are spending a lot of money for a car and before you even get it it's been in the"BUMP" shop....think it over before you commit

Deep breath.. Same thing happened to me on my first courtesy delivery from Becky . Car showed up damaged from transport ( guessing not as bad as yours). I freaked and called Becky and didn't want to take delivery. She talked me off the ledge and told me to let them fix and she would take care of it if I wasn't happy. ..It came out perfect and couldn't even tell where the small dent was.

Wow, I am so sorry about this. I think I would have cried. Did they show you any pictures so you could see how much damage there actually was?

My tire was damaged and leaking and they had to replace it. I was not happy but they gave me a brand new car to drive to work for the day while they waited for the new tire to FedEx in. (seems like a small deal now)

Thank you, everybody. I really appreciate your support and understanding.

Honestly though, I'm not mad. I'm super bummed, yes, but no anger over this. As I posted in my TPW Club, one of my mottos in life is "Always remember there is something far worse going on in the world than this." In the grand scheme of things, and when you put this in context of everything that's going on out there today, this really isn't that big of a deal to me. I've honestly waited over 10 years for this car. I can wait a bit more if I have to. It is what it is.

It's actually kinda funny to me, in a way. The whole process of me getting my Camaro has been quite the journey. I've had multiple bad experiences at various dealerships now trying to get this. Maybe it's a sign...

O_O

But again, the most discouraging part about all of this is that the dealership didn't tell me for a few days because they were worried. Which really confuses me! I tend to view myself as a level headed guy. I try to be pretty "Zen" about everything. I am very confused as to why they felt as if though they needed to be worried about telling me.

You know, my salesman did send me a SUPER blurry picture, but I can't really make out anything in it. According to him, however, the dent in the driver side door is over an inch in diameter. Which...sounds pretty damn big to me. But again, I can't see it in the pic.

He told me that the body shop will have to repaint the entire door as well, and that's where the concern is. There's a pretty good chance the new paint on the whole door won't match the rest of the car. So this is what I'm going to go look at when it returns from the shop.

Yeah, it's true. Much to consider. At my current lifestyle, about $48K OTD is a lot of money to spend on one splurge for me. So I can't allow myself to settle here for anything. If I'm not completely happy with it once it gets back, I will be saying no.

...but I'm still going to at least start it once and give it a few good revs...

Most importantly, I want to try and determine how the damage occurred, as much as I reasonably can.

Yeah, hopefully their bodyshop works magic when it comes to matching paint...

Sorry for all the rapid-fire posts. I promise I'll stop after this.

Haha thank you, I appreciate that. There's very little out there that can actually get to me. And I understand this dealership did not cause this to happen through any ill-will or neglect on their part.

Had it been the dealership I went to before these guys...I may have been a bit more suspicious. I went into a Chevy dealership in an AutoMall in Sacramento. A salesman walked up to me, and I started explaining what I was looking for and all that. After a few minutes, he interrupted me and said he was "uncomfortable working with" me until they ran a background check on me because he needed to make sure I wasn't "a terrorist or something that's gonna come back and blow us all up or anything."

Yes, he actually said that to me. And yes he was serious. Zero sarcasm points were released at the time of the statement.

(I am a short haired, clean shaven East Indian male who was born here and have no foreign accent of any kind, and I made zero religious/spiritual comments during my conversation with the guy)

So I just walked out calmly and didn't look back. If I had happened to stay with them and this dent happened then...I will admit I would probably assume they had something to do with it.
