Wise decision. Best of luck.

Awesome man, you made the right choice. I am sorry if I came off harsh but I totally know where you are coming from I too wanted to get a cool new car when I was your age. (that was back in the 80s when the 3rd gen Camaros were brand new)

Save as much as you can each paycheck and be sure to work on your credit as well, it will come in handy when you are ready to buy. Get a credit card even with a low limit and buy one or two small items a month that you were going to buy anyways and then pay it off religiously. (never ever miss a payment) If you work at that and you improve your credit enough you may be able to swing a GM card in a few years. They will often give you a "Top Off" at certain times of the year, I think usually in February, giving you $1,000 to $2,000 towards a new GM vehicle for a short time. (its use it or lose it money) I used mine to knock off almost $4,000 on my 5th Gen. (it's the old grandfathered GM card with no redemption limit)

No you're ok, I totally understand and I really just wanted some opinions and thoughts about trying to make that decision. I have about 5 years worth of credit, but I actually didn't know I could look into getting a GM card thats actually pretty cool, plus who knows have Chevy will evolve the Camaro in the 2018 and 2019 models, may look even meaner than they do now.

And people wonder why America is in debt up to it's eyeballs

This is a BAD idea. You should be smart enough not to even come here to ask that question. And if you get mad at me for saying that then you prove my point as to why this country is financially f'd.

Truth is you're upside down on your Cruze too. You should be driving a '98 Corolla that you paid $1500 in cash for until you have a steady job making over $35k/yr before you even THINK about buying a new Camaro SS.

Oye Vey!!!!

C'mon, give him a break! We were all young once.. who knows, maybe he doesn't have rent to pay or has no bills? We don't know his situation.

Yes, it's not a wise idea to have a $500 car payment unless you're making over 45k with minimal debt but the heart wants what the heart wants! lol

My opinion? Just save, save and save! By 2018, 2019.. you'll be rocking a new SS while most of us will have a 2-3 year old SS

Oh man even if you could get the car w/ the monthly that you wanted...you're going to have to consider the extra gas tanks that you'll have to pay for and the higher insurance with the v8. You're driving a cruz now so you're probably filling up full tank around 25-30 if gas is around 2.30 for you where you are and that lasts you around a week or two.

In a v8 you'll be filling up an 18 gallon tank with 91-93 at nearly $3/gal so you're looking at 40-60 every full tank and unless you're driving like a granny you'll be doing it often at 18mpg (which would be normal driving with the occasional spirited run...but mostly still slow driving) and looking at filling up maybe once, or twice a week.

Then good luck with insurance, that's going to add a lot depending on your age, even if you put your deductible at 1,000 to 2,000 you're looking at a monthly of approx. 200

If you only make 17k annually you're going to be spending ALL of your money on just breaking even...
