Another FYI, the 0-60 timer on GM products rounds down, not up. So a 3.95 becomes a 3.9 not 4.0... If you really want to time yourself with absolute certainty, get a VBOX or go to the drag strip. |

I'll check them out though. The level of precision that is available to civilians has really improved in the last 5 years.

Significant wheel spin? Are you watching with the sound on? You can hear a small chirp. If you are shifting the camaro quickly you get no more than a chirp. |

That's absurdly cheap for claiming accuracy to the hundredth. At relatively low rates of acceleration it's probably pretty accurate though.

It's expensive for a reason, its much better than your in dash "toy." These are the types of tools that the "bad magazine drivers" use for an accurate measurement for all vehicles. This is why their times are "worse". Sure i believe with thousands of owners in many different conditions some owner will get a couple tenths faster. I will never believe you are getting a 3.6 - 3.9sec in a bone stock manual until someone posts a GPS confirmed time.

Are you guys telling me that at the drag strip your official time is NOT measured by the car breaking a beam of light? (feel free to laugh at my ignorance)

The VBOX is at 95% accuracy for a 3 meter solution, with a claimed 1% variation on acceleration with a 10Hz refresh rate.
Depending on how the software is written for the 0-60 timer its going to be pretty damn close unless your talking about fuel car levels of acceleration. It's going to work well enough that the driver will not have to question the result. It will not be the most accurate that is possible, but 1% is damn good for civilian channel GPS.

Your right. They use a beam of light. It's the most accurate way to time, there is less information to process and the speed of light leaves little for interpretation.
