These kind of posts make me laugh. I've whipped more Z06 Vettes, and Porches and other high end cars, than I can count in my Challenger. It's about driver and setup. The Hellcat should come from the factory with DRs installed. Anything else is honestly irresponsible.
I put on a drag race event and car show every April called ChallengerFest. We had several Hellcats run 10.80s and 10.90s bone stock at over 125MPH. I think they did have DRs though on stock wheels, but heck I run 555Rs on mine for the street. P.S. - If you've never owned a 600+ RWHP car, you don't know what you're missing, 0-60 times be damned LOL Last edited by Speedy1975; 06-21-2016 at 05:19 PM. |

I'm not following your point. Hellcats make 600+ rwhp bone stock. Saying they should have every day tires is silly isn't it? My Challenger at 600rwhp would spin the tires at 80mph with Nitto Invos 295/35R20 tires on back. Eliminate the bean counters and let cars get what they need and buyers accepting 7k mile tread life and these dumb debates go away. This is silly magazine article bs. Put DRs on the Camaro and run the same "test".

I run 3.9 0-60 (which happens to be the M6 challanger time) on stock tires 100% stock.
in a month I'm getting new rims and mickey Thompson street tires and will let u know what a camaro can do 0-60 without drag radials. I assume I'll be able to launch at higher than 2k(my current launch) and beat the hell cat 0-60 claimed numbers, which is what the post is about. You will hear back from me on this matter mid to late july. Let's not forget the hellcat is 20k+ more and a muscle car with that much more power and that much higher of a price tag running a 0-60 equivalent to another muscle car is just plain shameful. Your car spinning at 80 is nothing to brag about as spinning is lost power and time and shows the engineering of the car is nonsense and the power is ment for bragging rights and ego. If the ZL1 is engineered with the same balance and precision as the ss it will make the challenger look like a overpriced overpowered joke. Which it already does to me. Go runs 10s at the track and stop bench racing a car's 0-60 timer and get back to me. I wonder about some of you guys lol.

If the reason you bought your hellcat was so you can run 10s at the track you wasted a lot of money. |

The fact it runs with a hellcat is a bonus and again makes the hellcat look like a sledge hammer trying to preform surgery when a scaple would serve you much better. |

Also here is a perfect example of driver error. My 2012 SRT, took it to the track the first time out and couldn't run better than 12:90s-13:00s frustrating for sure, next time out the car again had a best of 12:90s. Third time to the track I let the car nannies assist and it ran consistant 12:40s-12:50s and 1:80s 60' every pass.

First, I don't have a Hellcat. I built a Challenger R/T up to be a 600+RWHP car with a built motor and a blower that has proven itself at the track running 10s, and I can drive it to work or the grocery store whenever I want as well. It's a M6 car as too. I built it to be part race car, part daily driver if I want, and part show car. It meets, and exceeds, all three requirements. I'd love a Hellcat, but I'm married to my Challenger with all the blood sweat and tears I've personally put in to building it, plus they don't offer a Hellcat in Hemi Orange, the only color for me in a Challenger. If they ever do offer HO, I'll have a very difficult decision to make.
My comment about spinning the Invos at 80MPH wasn't bragging, it was making the point that high horse power cars shouldn't be running standard street tires, heck or even performance street tires for that matter. My definition of high horsepower is something over 500 to the tire, for clarity in this discussion. To say "I can't stop laughing because my 0-60 timer says I'm faster than a Hellcat" makes you look very silly. I understand some folks are new to the performance car culture and I try to give real world feedback for them to learn from. Maybe you're new, maybe you're not, but the comment that started this thread seems to indicate you are. Getting a sub 4 second 0-60 in a manual car is something to be proud of for sure, but comparing a SS to a Hellcat just isn't valid. You can accept this, or not. I love a good debate but don't wish to argue. Here's what a proper driver can do in a manual transmission 600RWHP Challenger. This is one of my 0-60s in mine. Yes, I spent money in lots of performance parts for this and yes my stock 2SS can likely match it, but I doubt my 2SS can continue on to 150MPH in another 9 seconds or so. That's just the price of performance and progressing technology. I consider it "Fun Tax" ![]() |

He also has a heavier car with 150+ more WHP but still pulled off a sub-4 second 0-60 run in a manual car that has a chassis that is notorious for being hard to launch...that's impressive no matter who you are.

I very much agree that shows a lot of him as a driver, I wasnt commenting on his driver skill. I was commenting on the car.
