1LE Recaros - worried I may not fit comfortably. Any other car with same Recaros?

I read a few times it seems the Recaros are standard with the SS 1LE package. Normally this would be good, but being a big dude 6' 2" 250~ pounds I'm worried I won't fit comfortably as these type of seats are made for a "normal" sized dude. Do any other cars have these same seats that we know of? I have sat in the Focus ST Recaros that are an option and I fit okay, but after a short drive they are uncomfortable for sure. I don't want this being an issue with my car, weekend car or not. Waiting to sit in a SS 1LE could mean having to wait till the holidays, which would suck. Hence why I am trying to think of another car or some other way to sit in one before I could order one. Plan B would be to get an 1SS and modify it myself...so trying to figure out what to do.

If you can sit in a 5th gen w/ Recaros...they're close...the new ones are a hair tighter around the torso. (If 5th gens are a "7", 6th gen is a "8" for torso size/support, IMO)

I don't know of any other car in GM's fleet with these exact seats, because they were designed specifically for Camaro; derived and improved from the 5th gen seats.

Maybe there is a z28 still at a dealer near you. Also, I am not sure if it is a fair comparison but the some Covette Stingrays at your dealer may have competition seats that you can try out. The last GEN5 1LE also had recaros as an option in 2014/2015. You may want to head over to camaro5 and get some feedback from the guys in the 1LE sub forum.

I wonder the same thing. Does anyone know if the 1LE will be at any car shows or any west coast dealers any time soon?

I'm a fat bastard (6'0, 300lbs) and my daily driver is an ST with recaros. It was rough for the first few hours, but they wore in (or were pummeled into submission ) and now I can be in them for 10-14 hours a day without too much trouble. They are the "worst" recaros on the market.

One thing I'd like to know is if GM was able to manage headroom with the recaro packaging. Ford messed up and the seats in my car do not go as low as I'd like them to, and the non-recaro ST seats will.

6'3" 275 lbs here, also interested in the same, I plan on losing some weight but I don't want that to be a requirement to fit in my car....although I bet that would be a real motivator.....do I want that second helping of lasagna or do I want to fit into my 1LE Camaro?

I'm 6'4" and 300+ lbs and my past experience with Recaros (in other makes/models) echoes BigEnos. The bolsters and seat cushion are made with a stiff foam that will eventually (after a few thousand miles) mold around most body shapes.

I'm most concerned with headroom. The 2016 SS I sat in at the LA Auto Show seemed promising - if 2017 1LE headroom is similar then I should be OK. In the worst case I'll just have to replace the driver's seat with a low profile racing shell...

Depending on any connector/bracket issues...

You might also see if, when the time comes, someone with a 2SS might want to trade seats if you really really want the 1LE but the Recaros turn out to be a no-go.

The main issues with big guys is not the weight, but the width of your shoulders. If you have broad shoulders, the tops of the seats kind of fold in your shoulder blades. That makes it uncomfortable... I know. 6'3 and 250 lbs and a 32" waist is different than a 6'3 and 250lbs with a 44" waist.

You definitely want to try them out before you purchase blindly.

I agree with the above statement. 5th Gen Recaro was horrible for the shoulders, I am guessing that is one of the reason they dropped them from the new design. Looks 'racer' cool but not comfortable.
Girth is the biggest factor is seat fit. I was getting close to 360lbs and 48" waist last spring (2015). Squeezing into an SS at the Auto Show must have looked amusing. Fast forward to the fall, now 280lbs, the 6th Gen was out and I fit better in so many ways. When you ass shrinks you get more headroom, LOL...
Currently at 225lbs and 6'4"', the current seating is phenomenal.
I think these seats would have the same design criteria. Problably 38" waist and 260ish would be the max. Anymore and you would start getting squeezed in too tight or spilling over the edges.

Impressive! Looks like GM wasn't the only one shedding some weight.

I agree the 6th gen seat looks like it will be much more comfortable in the shoulder area. Your numbers sound about right. I would think GM would make them fit up to a 38" waist. Probably right on the edge of getting too big for really skinny guys.

I'm curious to know how adjustable the seats will be. I'm assuming they won't be power seats. I just hope there is a little height adjust ability. I have never dealt with the recaros in the 5th gen's so I have no idea what was adjustable on them. I'm just hopping that the seats are low enough that at 6'-0" I will have headroom to clear a helmet on track days.
