I don't notice anything, I can feel the torque come in pretty quick when I floor it, however alot of cars come that way as a safety feature because they don't want you to accidentally tap the gas peddle and spam into a wall, they give you a bit of a lag to be able to lift your foot. Which is why I'm against throttle controllers, GM made the car like that for a reason. And I don't trust anything that goes between my throttle body and gas peddle.

its definitely annoying. I don't think the car you drove with 250 miles on it had anything to do with it, as I took delivery of mine with only 4. it appears to just be the way it is tuned. its been my only complain about this car so far. someone mentioned on these forums that he was able to tune out that dead zone, so we are stuck with this delay unless we are willing to void the warranty

I have a 2SS 2016 and I don't have the issue the OP reported, mine isn't sluggish at all. Its sensitive to throttle input. Mine has plenty of power from start of pedal travel all the way down to full throttle.
Also I would think if there was a "dead pedal from start till halfway on the pedal, people with manuals would stall all the time. OP are u sure you had ur foot firmly placed on the gas pedal, and not your toes at the very bottom of the pedal which could cause you to think your pressing the pedal and engaging it completely? Or you had the clutch semi engaged?

@13:25 SWF reports the same "dead zone" in the gas pedal.

I am assuming the throttle delay is tuned in for safety. I am curious if you notice the same behavior in Track mode.
I saw some folks complaining about the opposite problem with the 2015/2016 Subaru WRXs. The throttle was so touchy that is made driving a manual not a smooth as it could be. Some folks reported that Subaru released a factory tune update that desensitized the throttle a bit. Some said it was a huge improvement and other didn't like the fact that you needed more pedal travel. I think this is just a matter of getting used to it.

We have a chevrolet truck at work that is an auto that has this issue, i complain that it sits there until you are half throttle. It really is annoying. But my A8, (i know you said manual) will spin tires at half throttle.

I had this happen on mine 'til I shut off all the nannies, either go into competitive mode, or hold the TC button for a few seconds, until both TC and stabilitrak off lights turn on in dash. Personally, I turn them all off, then you always get full throttle response. With the nannies on, I felt a HUGE delay but only sometimes. Bye bye nannies!

theres a difference between sluggish throttle response and delayed initial throttle response, and the latter is the issue that I am talking about and referring to as the deadzone. without a tune, that isn't going anywhere even with the VTC, that not how it works. basically, the first 10-15% of pedal travel does nothing, and installing the VTC isn't going to do anything for that, its only gonna make the throttle response after that 10-15% more responsive, since all the VTC does is tell the car that you are applying more throttle than you actually are. yup. I was hoping that it was an isolated thing and only with his car, but I saw I had the same "issue" with mine too when I took delivery. its not by any means a big problem, just a little annoyance that one can adapt to quickly enough. just wish I didn't have to "settle".
