instead of plasti-dipping them, stop by your local sign shop and see if they have an end cut of vehicle wrap vinyl. that has long term removable adhesive if you ever want to take it off without damaging the chrome piece and comes in a ton of color options and finishes, including carbon fiber and brushed metal. many places who do wraps toss scraps that would work for this and would probably be willing to just give you a piece. Ask them if you need to put it on dry or with a little soapy water. If you don't like it, it will come off easy enough as well.

Guys that trim just pulls straight out. I plasti coated mine black ez pz that glare was maddening.
