Mishimoto catch can review

So my first mod was a mishimoto catch can, the item itself is of high quality and overall a great product. I opted for the black hoses to keep that stock look rather than the blue or red options. Two things that I didn't like however was that mishimoto failed to list the item on back order on their site so paying the next day air fee was pointless and they also failed to provide any type of instructions. All and all I'm happy and I know it's going to keep my valves clean so I highly recommend! I'm currently at 1200 miles and the stock hoses already had blow by in them, as shown on the picture on the bottom left.

That is worrying to me. I have 11.7k on mine and still haven't had the chance to install mine yet. I feel a little bit of lag from the throttle from time to time.

I went with the black can as well. Love the look except the cheap hose clamps. I ended up spending $40 on various sizes of factory style constant tension clamps to no avail. They were all too wide and hoses on mishimoto were different diameter on same hose requiring even wider clamp. I ended up using zip ties with connection on bottom so all you see is black strap. No leaks so far and looks clean.

Can the valves be cleaned out? Not going the catch can route either while I still have my warranty and free oil changes. It's considered aftermarket so beware.. or you can just take it off before going in the dealer. Just depends if it's worth the hassle.

Spoke a an advisor over the phone at Win Chevrolet. Ask him if a catch can will cause any implications with my warranty.

His reply was.. "What's a catch can?"

*Face palm*

The catch can serves a very useful purpose. I have had oil in it both times I checked it. This oil would have been ingested for sure. I remove it when I go in for anything. Literally 10 minutes at most to do. I think its ridiculous to pin blame on the catch can for an engine failure but whatever. The issue we have is direct injection does not have the benefit of fuel traveling over the back ofbthe intake valve and help clean it. Oil will build up and create deposits that will cause issues. After I saw how much oil is getting trapped by the can mine is not coming off.

You can Google walnut shell blasting or try Seafoam if you don't go the catch can route, their is enough evidence on this forum to prove that your car desperately needs one .....the voided warranty claim is so bogus that I'm not even going there.

There was never any proof whatsoever that the can caused any issues with the car. As a matter of fact, if you read the thread it states that his car was denied warranty based solely off the fact that Chevy saw the catch can in a picture provided by the dealership mechanics. So while it is true the can was the cause (scapegoat would be more accurate) of them to deny the warranty, there is no factual link between the can and the failure of the car. Be careful not to spread false information.

So ur telling me the can didn't deny the warranty? Come on man. Tell u what warranty time pays jack shit compared to actual labor time. The Tech will find any reason to avoid warranty time.

The guys car who blew sounded like the pick up tube recall but i only perused the 40 pages. Id like to know if his oil pan had raised numbers.

It was a '15 Camaro with the LS engine, not the LT1.
