Apple Carplay - Music Access is Limited

Anybody find a solution to this problem. When I have my iPhone plugged in to my car and go to Carplay's music playlists, it says "Music access is limited". I have to go to my phone and select a playlist from it thus making Apple CarPlay useless!!!

did you get firmware upgraded on your DIC?

Not sure if it is something that was an issue in first release firmware or not...

Google doesn't seem to show any results for your issue either.

Also, hard to tell what device is having the issue, the DIC or phone. Seems to be DIC but if you could get another apple device, and if you can have same amount of music, playlists etc. on it, and see if it also fails. Also, if you have access to another Camaro with Apple Car play, and see if your current device also fails (at the dealer?).

I'd start with making sure you have upgraded firmware though.

good luck.

Mine only lets me select from 10 or so of the several hundred artists on my phone. But if I use bluetooth, they're all there.

It's a random mix of artists too. If I hit "more" at the bottom, SIRI will find the others but that's slow and dumb and requires good service.

I've had my car since December 10. No problems with my apple carplay. I did have a problem with the USB ports not working. My dealer fixed it.

Yes, your screen will be limited. It doesn't want you scrolling through hundreds of songs or playlists. Just hold the talk button on the steering wheel and say "play playlist ___"

It sucks but it's to keep your eyes on the road.

How man playlists could you possibly have that it's doing this? Granted I've only got 2 that I use, but I don't have any problems. The Chevy music interface is the one that I think is buggy mess. Actually this entire platform should never have been released until they figured out a way to let you update it via your phone connection.

So a similar problem exists on AA from what I've seen. Seems Apple and Google both think you shouldn't be able to scroll through playlists while driving. Just use myLink without CarPlay. Will work with iOS for music just fine.

It's not just playlists though. When you select a playlist, you can only scroll so far and through so many songs before it gives you the option "More..."

And if you click "More..." It makes you say a command to pull up more songs. The playlist itself will play all songs regardless of how many are in it, you just can't physically see more than around 10 or so songs on the infotainment screen.

But bluetooth lets you scroll through everything. It's stupid and inconsistent. I get why it's there... but it's dumb that bluetooth gives you total freedom and Apple CarPlay doesn't haha.

Bluetooth doesn't show you a full list of your music though. You scroll through 1 song at a time, and that's exactly how you can do it with CarPlay.

Thanks for all the input. It seems that both my music playlist and phone contacts are only available when the car is in park. When I'm driving, both are inaccessible. IMO Apple CarPlay is useless like this!!!

I can scroll through all of my artists the same way as it is on my phone. I'm not sure what you're referring to?
