Homelink - I know how to get home lol
Dual Zone Climate Control - I have it in my Sierra and had it in my vette, too ocd to set both of them at different temps Blind side advisories- car comes with mirrors already Auto-dimming side view mirrors - the window tint takes care of that Rear backup sensors - they come standard with a camera, that's enough for me. Had sensors in my Nissan Titan and always turned that annoying shit off Leather- liked to have that, will probably do a 2SS full leather upgrade later on, already got the leather knee pads Heated/cooled seats - it's my understanding that the seats are vented, not cooled. Anyway, I live in south Louisiana, I have no use for a heated anything. Heated Steering Wheel - see above Ambient light - I could care less about changing neon light colors in my car Illuminated Camaro lower door jamb trim - ok, this is a cool feature, might swap the black one out at least for a colored one if it's made Bose 9 speaker stereo system - base speakers are good enough, wasnt impressed with the Boston acoustic upgrade in the 5th gens anyway 2 position memory driver's seat with exit feature - I'm the only one that drives the car, don't need memory seats This is why I'm perfectly happy with my 1SS....

Agreed. I did that the last time around with my Gen5 1LE. I went for the loaded 2SS this time. I actually get use out of the upgraded stereo, blind spot monitor, ventilated leather seats, etc. I am really liking the MRC as well. I am finding myself in Tour most of the time for daily driving. It doesn't turn the car into a Caddy but it takes the edge off when dealing with crappy roads. Set it to Track and I can feel every pebble in the road. Pretty awesome technology.

00000000000 regrets. I'd rather have that 5k to do mods. They'll both loose about the same amount over a few years, the leather in these cars is pretty dam nice, so just decide if you have an extra 5k to spend.

The things I'm going to write will seem simple and they are but they're mistakes I've seen real world people make very, very, often over the years...
It helps to know who you are, I'm referring to regret over options you wanted but didn't purchase to save money. I know I'm the type that will greatly regret not getting something I wanted, others I know can skip something and it doesn't bother them. Keep in mind I'm talking about things you could have afforded, not things which are beyond your means. I know lots of people in the real world who rationalized away options on cars saying they don't need or want them and then later regretted not getting them when those rationalizations didn't play out so well in the real world. Another factor is ignorance. As an example, I never put a check in the automatic cruise control box until after I owned a car that had it standard. Turns out I love ACC but before I had it I couldn't find the value of it matching what I thought was too high an entry fee. Now having had it I put a check in that box every time if it's there to check. That would lead me to a related concept that is many of these options are hard to value when you haven't owned them. I would be careful about devaluing an option you haven't owned because many times once you do give something an extended evaluation even if it doesn't seem dramatic in use you really miss it when you don't have it. This tends to play out when the ol lady gets an option in her car that you decide you like after gaining some experience with it but you don't have it. That won't really bother you too much unless it turns out you skipped said option just to save a few bucks a month on a payment. If you're older like me you will have almost certainly skipped some option that you later found out you like that didn't save you much money anyways. Use some common sense, you can both nickle and dime yourself to death and hurt your ownership by saving a dime. Think it through. |

Even if I could have afforded it, the 2SS would have never been an option. There is absolutely nothing on the 2SS I wanted or needed. 1SS was always the only trim I was interested in.

I don't regret the 1SS one bit, honestly I would if never used any of the features on the 2ss, the car has all I need, a v8, 6 speed and a quad exhaust

Good points. My main driver for wanting the 2SS was the leather and the upgraded stereo. I enjoying listening to the NPP exhaust like most around here but I also enjoy listening to great music as well. I was thinking I don't need blind spot monitoring but now that I have it I really like it. Same goes for ventilated seats, never had them before but I am really digging them. Same the for the interior lighting, I was like whats the big deal but the first time you drive the car at night and you experience it, you realize how these little things improve the overall driving experience. To your point crabman, you shouldn't spend more than you can afford but if the difference between a 1SS and 2SS costs you $80 a month, or $20 a week, is it worth giving up all the extra content for something you are truly passionate about and enjoy. Also, keep in mind that you should get some of that money back at resale since a loaded up car should fetch a bit more. |

Easy decision for me as I'm not a fan of leather and can turn my head to see beside me, plus it's not like it's a spacious cabin, so dual climate control is silly. Only cool feature I wouldn't mind is the ambient lighting but LOL justifying $5k for that.

Without the leather it is a tougher sell. I am digging the blind spot monitor though. I had a gen 5 and I would turn my head but I still couldn't see jack most of the time. It is the same thing in the Gen6 but it is cool to have the extra validation whether someone is in my blind spot. The lighting wasn't high on my list but now that I have experienced it I can say it is pretty nice. I set it on "light show mode" the other night for my son. It must have looked strange to other drivers as the cabin slowly alternated between 24 different colors.

Kind of wish I wish I would have chosen blue velvet metallic since it will be discontinued... I was going back and forth when I was at the dealership.

Some of the options/features of the 2SS are now worth more to me since I have experienced them. |
