Very good question. I would like to know as well. Looking at custom plates myself.

I would think would need VIN first along with whatever you're local state/county/city requires for registration.

I'm probably going to wait till I get back home with my ride though just to be on safe side.

I was going to say why don't you just do it now but then it occurred to me that some people might be getting a new car in addition to an existing one and might not be doing a plate transfer. So never mind on that I guess.

I'm trading my current Camaro in on the new one so I'm thinking of getting a custom plate now and it will just replace my existing one whenever it comes in (about 45 days after ordering). If I time it just right, it'll show up around the time I go get the new car.

Anyway, I'll be watching the threads for updates from you guys this week so good luck!

Yeah I'm getting the Camaro as a second vehicle. So have to wait for tags.

Your idea seems like a good one, go ahead and order now then do transfer when get new Camaro.

I believe it is state-by-state. Some let you reserve it, some require you to have your car. Check your DMV, MVD, or whatever they call it - I'm talking to you Indiana "Bureau of Motor Vehicles " (BMV)

Well, I'll be watching all of you first week guys and girls as you wait for your cars to be built and shipped. I've got two more weeks to wait. It will be fun to see who gets their VIN first.

Yes you do, but my wife wants me to add some blue to the back end to make it red, white and blue...but yes, this is not my first white / red Camaro.

Up until this point that wait has been suspenseful. Now the really big wait begins.

I might have to use a Gen 5 in Forza Horizon 2 on my xBox One to come up with some design ideas. And who says video games are a waste of time?
