Camaro 6 should be his own man.

I've owned my gen 6 since February and it has made its presence known everywhere I have traveled.

I went to the car wash and a lady asked me, "that's a Chevy?!"
My neighbor approached me and said, "whoa, you could slap a Maserati badge on it and I'd believe it"

I could go on and on but hearing these comments got me thinking, "compared to what else Chevy has to offer (except the corvette but more on that later) this looks and performs far differently." Despite the setbacks that come with the new model it performs and looks fantastic.

Motor trend showed how much this car improved by comparing it to the m4. Ford pushed up the release for their next gen mustang because the Camaro was such a stand out. Many Camaros have dynod higher than the equivalent Corvettes. Al O even said that the camaro team is pretty much right on the heels of the vette.

Now don't get me wrong, the Camaro does get a lot of its parts from the parts bins of Corvette and Cadillac, even the door handles with the button is shared across Chevy (which was disappointing, was kind of hoping for just a sensor like dodge or ford, even my friends 10 anniversary scion has a sensor in the door handle) but the look is camaro exclusive.

Ford has the pony symbol for the Mustangs and dodge has the hellcat symbol. I think it would help the Camaro brand if they had their own standout symbol. The heritage flag that came out for this generation was one of the first things I took off my car.

Let me know what you guys think, I personally think the Camaro should step away from the other mundane cars that Chevy offers. Would that drive up the price? Would that make team corvette mad? I don't know but I would love to hear your opinions.

I like the Camaro symbol on the fenders... but the bowtie is fine with me - as long as they're not gold (I have the black ones).

By the way, not even Corvette gets away without having a bowtie.

Very true but at least it's hidden within their own symbol. And I meant a symbol that will live on, not change from generation to generation. Like the pony being around since the inception of the mustang. But hey if you guys like it that's awesome too.

I kind of like the fender badge. It's not as cool as some of the replacement ones I've seen in the Mustang community. Like the Coyote logo and P-51 I've seen but the Camaro one is not an eye sore by any stretch.

On the bow tie I totally get it. I'm going to sit with it a while though when I get my car, it won't be one of the first things I change. Red and gold/bronze can be complimentary sometimes at least IMO. Things don't always have to match to look good.

That would be cool... Ford has Shellby which has a huge following

Dodge has Scatpack and Hellcat, the only time Camaro had a brand that meant anything was Yanko which was aftermarket and Berlinetta

I agree. The red, white, and blue striped badge has been around for a long time. Even tho it's evolved to look a little different, Camaro still rocks the badge quite well. This badge is something that has been missing from the Camaro's exterior for sometime now IMO. I'm glad they revived it.

Almost forgot about the Shelby. I do love seeing the cobra in the grille vs a generic brand logo that's represents a bunch of cars. I guess I'm alone in my dislike for the red white and blue badge. Just didn't go with the theme of my car. But everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect it.

If people can't tell that its a Camaro, having the Camaro tri-colour badge isn't going help any. I can't think that anybody is going to be so unfamiliar with the general styling characteristics of a Camaro that they can't recognize it on sight ... but would know instantly that this (or some variant thereof): Name: chevrolet-camaro-badge-2.jpg

means 'Camaro'. Evidently, you didn't even know that the Camaro actually had its own badge -despite the fact that your car has several of them on it.

At any rate, no the Camaro is not nearly special enough to ditch all 'Chevrolet' badging in favour of 'Camaro' badging. Its a mass produced Chevy, intended to sell the better part of a hundred thousand units per year. There is no exclusivity to it, no extra cachet that it carries. Its just a Camaro. You like your car? Fine, you should. Its a nice car ... but so pretty much everything else in the Chevy lineup too. Be happy that its part of a great lineup of cars.

Maybe you misunderstood my point or maybe I just explained myself wrong. I understand that the Camaro has the red white and blue badge (that wasn't even really represented in the previous generation which leads me to believe it's more of a "throwback" badge instead of THE badge) but I'm comparing it to the mustang that has a pony in the front grille instead of the blue oval. Mustang has the same objective of selling thousands of units a year but it stands distinctively separate from a focus fusion etc (except for that front grille design). What I'm trying to say is that the Camaro is transforming, that's why companies are pitting it against cars that are nearly twice the price and that definitely makes it carry extra "cachet." I don't think it's just a "Camaro " anymore, they are breaking boundaries and raising the bar. Chevy has nice cars but there's definitely levels to the brand, I drove the brand new Malibu while work was getting done on my car and I immediately missed my Camaro. So I never said I wasn't happy, clearly I am, that's why I wanted the car to get some individual recognition.

Thank you for your input.

Even though i don't have the 50th Anniversary Camaro i would really like to replace the side badges with the "Fifty" Emblem when they come out. Just looks nice and different from stock. For the front and back dunno yet but i get your point....

Mustang gets the attention it does because except for short periods of time, it's all Ford has. You want a performance RWD coupe from Ford? Mustang's your only option unless they happen to be producing a GT at the time, and you better have the cash and luck to get one of those.

GM on the other hand has Corvette. Which is why no matter how good Camaro gets, it'll always be "just a Camaro." People save up their entire lives to retire and buy a Corvette, not a Camaro. Plus, you won't see factory Camaro racing teams racing Ferrari and Porsche in IMSA. You won't see a Camaro at LeMans.

In the grand scheme of things, Camaro just isn't THAT special of a car. An amazing performance coupe for sure, but not on the level of Corvette.
