Saw my third gen6 on the road yesterday with a serious, unbiased car guy. Another street guy with no brand loyalty. His current performance cars are from Pontiac, Dodge, Ford.

He didn't know there was a new camaro and said he couldn't really tell it from a gen5. Granted all his cars will walk any factory car so he doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to the new car scene but it's a little telling bc he was completely aware of hellcat numbers and the story on the mustang 6g.

They gotta be polished or chrome, the Camaros Im seeing n the lots have black wheels. They've been there for months.
According to my connection at my dealer, the black wheels have been one of the most popular options...

I'm thinking about purchasing a Nightfall Gray 1LT RS with black wheels in the near future.

You and your friend are driving 30 year old cars.

Fun fact. My first new car was a 1984 Monte Carlo SS (I was 21). It had 185 HP, a weak drivetrain, passenger car suspension and a AM/FM/Cassette. It cost $13,500. Adjusted for inflation $31,500.

Cool first car! Same interior as a Caddy, same cam as a Vette that year.

Some newer than 30 and some older mostly. HP per $ cars. My point is we go to cruise nights, the drag strip, car shows. There's not much buzz on the street and some better advertising would help.

I despise black wells. Shopped around until I found what I was looking for which took awhile because in my area there were lots of black wheels on the dealer lots.

Is it impacting sales that much? Likely not but will drive a small portion of the market away.

Totally agree. How the hell can anyone seriously say the 435hp GT is underpowered?!?

It loses by bus lengths to a new SS in the 1/4. I never inferred or implied historical hp #'s, or even mention the horsepower. Power to weight is a better metric to evaluate how fast a car is.

The V6 Camaro is to the GT what the GT is to the SS. The splits are almost exactly the same. Every person would call the V6 underpowered compared to the GT.

Definitely not underpowered. However, it delivers its power differently. The coyote 5.0 with its DOHCs really needs to rev out to reach its full potential but the LS and LT1 motors produce more low end torque, which is more accessible for typical street driving. I saw a video review of GT350 by the motortrend guys and they commented that it felt like nobody was home until you hit 4000rpm but then it would go like a bat out of hell to 8250 rpm. Fun, but how often can you wind out the gears in typical street driving.

I guess the only time you can refer to 435hp as being underpowered is when you are comparing it to 455hp and 455tq or maybe the new upcoming ZL1 at 640hp.
