Consider this. The gt350R, faster than the 350, IMO can be compared to last gen's z/28. Considering that 5th gen 1LE is the inbetween of the 5G SS and the Z's, and our base 16 SS is FASTER than last gen's 1LE, that can be considered grounds to say that our 16' base SS's are faster, if not equal to the gt350 (maybe not the R) on both the strip and the track. I for one walk gt350's in a straight line often, and highway races usually dont even hit 120. Now if thats driver mod, so be it. I still believe it the same.

Most highway runs I have seen (out in Mexico 3) usually run out to 140 or the top of 4th. Some really fast cars will do the 60 to 160 like the Lambo and Viper that just went at it a few days ago. I have not had a chance to run one as well, but from what I saw at Moroso(PBIR) it ran a 11:9 on DR's 118. From a highway roll I would think it should be better considering how high it revs out. But as I said earlier, its been far and few between of seeing them on the road. |

VS SHELBY GT350
Highway runs down here end before 120mph. You should know this, lol. I typically run into 1 by the airport, heading over the 112 if I leave work(the beach) around 10pm. The same white one. I've also seen a gray one in the same area but near le jeune, I've only raced him once but I only beat him by a bumper from a 40. They might run 11.9's with DR's but we have been known to run faster with DRs. Call it a drivers race for a 16ss vs gt350's but I believe that our cars are faster seeing as how I won more than I have lost. Also, the mags even call a faster trap and 1/4 coming from our side. Or call it luck, what say you haha
Edit: thinking about it now, I guess it could be luck. I have only ever raced the same 2 dudes!

Im still torn between a 17 shelby and a 16 SS,
pros for the shelby , unique collectible one of a kind exhaust hats off to looks , longer resale value drive it off the lot make 5k camaro love the futuristic vs classic interior , its basically a vette , faster resale drop, better off the line start I found a GT 350 at 1k above MSRP for 17 and I'm questioning wether to pull the trigger , but I do love the SS hard to decide is there anything people here are willing to call special with that shelby besides just numbers ? |

Since there is a about a 12-15k difference between a 2ss and a GT350 with tech, it's not a apples to apples comparison. The GT350 is a really slick looking ride, but at 57k it won't out perform a 2ss with a set of Michelin Pilot SS tires thrown on.
Doesn't make the GT350 a bad ride, just over priced. |
