is the issue that it doesn't work at all? if so you may not have the current version of mylink firmware and will have to take it to the dealer to update (should have been updated by him prior to delivery though)

If the issue is something else you'll have to describe it a bit more.

hey thanks for the reply, I connect my phone to the USB drive and I press the projection screen and nothing happens. It says nothing is detected, I purchased the car at the dealership a week ago do you think it still has the old firmware?

If the build date is older than April i'm willing to bet it wasn't updated. The behavior you're describing is exactly what mine did prior to the update it doesn't do anything.

Call the dealer about the update with your vin# they can tell you if it was installed or not before you head down.

Picked up my SS 5 days ago, build date was Mar/16 and my S6 connected right up with no issues and does so (Bluetooth) each time I get in the car. May want to discuss it with your dealer.

Connecting via Bluetooth and using Android Auto are too different things.

socalcowboysss, dumb question, but you did download the Android Auto app right? Otherwise yeah it would seem that the update wasn't done on your car.

Check your phone when you connect it. It doesn't default to File Transfer, it just thinks you're charging. So pull down the quick bar on the phone and select USB Charging. Change it to File Transfer and then see if Android Auto app works.

As far as I know, Android Auto only works via USB cable (for now). The BT phone connection is a separate feature.

I connected it initially through the USB port and everything linked fine. Ran through the app without any issues. The Bluetooth connectivity came post app set up.

Tat's a good point. I had heard that with iPhones but it makes sense that it could apply to Android products too.

Mine was doing that. I discovered that it only works if I unlock the phone before plugging it in. When I do that it works flawlessly.

Edit: By "unlocking the phone" I mean typing in my security password to open it.

My car was built in March and did not have the Android Auto software when I drove it home. The cutover was around the last week of March. The good news is that since the update my Galaxy S7 Edge has been working great. It was a bit flakey with the 2016 Malibu rental I had a while back so there have been major stability improvements made since then. My work iPhone works well too, but Google maps is vastly better than Apple's nav. Get the update done if you need to. It is worth the effort.
