Gen6 SS vs. many others on race track

Just got back from a track day, and got a couple of videos recorded.

List of some of the cars that I passed today (I don't remember all of them...):
R8, 911 GT3, C7 Z51, race prepped Miatas, S2000, Minis, and Yes, some Mustangs (Boss 302 included) and a Challenger - There was GT350 but unfortunately he wasn't in my group, so I didn't have a chance to play with him. (I almost wanted to move one group down so I can chase him for a lap.... Loved that high revving engine sound)

Here is a link to one of the video. Yeah,,, I'm too lazy to edit the video so I just uploaded the raw video. 1st lap obviously warm-up lap, and last lap (from 16:00) cool down.

Enjoy....!

Great Video buddy! Looks like a lot of fun and great to see the Camaro running so smoothly with the others on the track.

Did you ever have track time in a 5th gen like that? Curious about comparative comments.

That was sweet, after you passed the stang @ 5 min you really got moving on that next lap, lots of squeal and that straightaway really shows the Camaro's speed and great braking!
Thanks for the share

Yes, it was great fun. I worked hard to represent Camaro6 well out there...

Unfortunately I haven't. I got a ride in 1LE one time for a few laps, but that was to give some tips to beginner, so I can't really compare that experience (being a passenger) to my driving.

Thanks. Yeah that was one of few clean laps that I could run without running into traffic.

The group that I run with (called 3 Balls racing) have 4 different run groups, and I usually run in 2nd group.

1st group is the fastest with complete open passing (with no point by required). I ran in that group a few times with C6 on slicks, but I still like running in the group 2 (pass anywhere with point by) especially when I'm running pretty much stock and street tires. (most of group 1 cars are purpose built race cars)

If I don't want to run into traffic, I should move up to group 1 but then I may be the 'traffic' for those guys. (well,,, they can just pass with no point by anyway....)

I kind of like the camera being on your helmet...gives a little more sense of what is going on.

What is that clanking? Is the gopro not secure in it's plastic case or something?

That annoying clanking is coming from the helmet HANS anchor piece, which happens to be right next to GoPro.

Dude that was entertaining!! You're a great driver. Its funny watching all the other cars wave you around...and those cars are no slow leaks! Outstanding representation of the '16 Camaro SS. Shows that this car isn't just for the dragstrip. Wonder if there is any of those road coarses in North Carolina??!! I'm ready to try!

You could check out VIR -- it's right at the NC border at Milton, NC.

What speeds were you able to reach down the straightaway?

Sidedraft exactly what I was looking for. Never knew that place even existed. Looks like a good place for a mini vacation by their website. Appreciate it!

By what I saw on the video it looked close to 130 in 4th gear. Most of the time he stayed in 3rd on all the turns

Yes, these cars are definitely not just for drag strip. Very capable cars on road course for sure.
You'll love the track days with Camaro.

I was able to get 130 most of the time (per HUD), and was able to see 132 couple of times, but didn't look at the speed too often, because it could mess up my braking points. One thing I can point out here: my rear tires are 285/35/20, which is not only one size wider than OEM, it's actually bit taller than OEM tires too, so technically, my speed should be tiny bit higher than what speedometer reads.
There is one section of the track where I can actually downshift to 2nd, but with this car having enough of power at low RPM, I found it actually better to just leave it in 3rd except the straight. Driving almost like auto.
