I just bought one 3 weeks ago with a manual and love it. More so than I was expecting. It's a very fun car to drive, and it's cool that nobody has them or really knows what they are. I love mine.

See 11:12 in this video for lap times.

That left a lot of SS owners scratching their heads. All the owners that have owned a 2014 and a 2015/2016 have said that they probably had the car in touring or sport mode. They're saying the 2014 suspension stiffness is somewhere between sport and competition/track mode. To put the car into track mode, you have to hit the traction control button twice, you can't get there by turning the knob.

I never owned or driven a 2014, but I do know that it's crazy stiff in track mode.

I just noticed the OP already has a Camaro. So if this is just being added to the fleet then I see this as a fun sport sedan for traveling with a family. If I was adding a second car I think my taste fits better to the SRT8 Charger or a lightly used euro sports sedan. maybe even a wagon.

My biggest complaints against the SS:

1. Looks (subjective)
2. Worse MPG than a 392 Charger (Auto to Auto, and not a small difference)
3. A detuned LS3 (really? 415hp)
4. Old 6 speed auto
5. Terrible looking steering wheel and 2012 era DIC.

There's a lot to like too, but those all turned me off the car awhile ago.

Yessir. I have a Traverse to trade in, so I really want to stick with Cox Chevy if I do go for it. Love the Charger Scat Pack, but I think I prefer the look of the SS. I know it isn't in the same league for acceleration as the Dodge, but since I have my 2SS I'm not needing the 485 HP. I've always been a huge fan of the sleeper looks. Heck, I was drag racing a low 13 second 98 Regal for years. Lol

That car has big collector potential if you are in it for the long haul.

Fair enough. If it was my softer alternative to my upcoming 1LE I would probably go with the Charger based on the interior and the Uconnect infotainment system alone. I think its the best system on the market. I probably would go with radar cruise control and city brake assist too. As much as I'm a chevy guy, the SS is outdated and outclassed in several categories. I think the Charger will hold its value much better over a typical 5 year owner ship.

Gone soon:

Although Holden's involvement in exports has fluctuated since the 1950s, the declining sales of large cars in Australia has led the company to look to international markets to increase profitability. On 11 December 2013, Holden announced that it will cease vehicle and engine production by the end of 2017

You would be REALLY surprised on that. Even though the high end Chargers/Challengers are sold to fleet they still get hammered on values. If you buy a Charger don't ever plan on selling it back. It's why I bought a G8 GT instead of the Charger when I got mine in 2010. I knew that it would be a "short term" car and I sold the G8 for more than I bought it for almost 15 months later.

The SS handles much, much better and is lighter on its feet compared to the ScatPack due to the better weight distribution and chassis improvements design.

If you could find a used Benz c450 in the same range, I'd take a look at that too.

Never thought of the Benz. I do want to stick with new, however. I plan on leasing since we lease everything. I switch cars like I switch socks.

Do it! I know of 3 of us on here that have pourchased an SS in the last month because we got tired of waiting for the 1LE. You can just add this one to your stable. HW is a great color on the SS and if you do a Holden badge/grill conversion with some OEM GM blacked out trim to replace the chrome it totally transforms the look of the car.

I for one love mine. And I agree with BlackDevil. Something wasn't right about the 2016 being 2 seconds slower than the 2014. It actually has a higher skidpad number than the 2014 (.97g vs .95g) in the correct drive mode.

EDIT: lots of good HW pics in this thread http://www.ssforums.com/forum/chevy-...re-thread.html

I bought my wife a Charger over an SS because I liked the look better.
