Shifting gears when car is cold

Hi Folks,

Since the day I bought the car (manual).. i have noticed and issue but was lazy to report it. I drive my car from weekend to weekend. But everytime I start the car after a long break, or if the car is cold.. shifting of gears is a bitch.. like it really takes some effort to shift into each gear.. once i drive for 15-20 mins it eases out... so is this happening because the car is cold?

I don't have the M6 this time around, but my last two were stick. Never had any issues shifting it even when cold. See if you can drive another SS at your dealer when it's cold and compare and talk to them about your concerns. You may have an issue.

One of the best things to do is when you start the vehicle, let it idle for just a minute. You can see that the rpm dies down and then go on to drive. That little minute helps warm up fluids in the car and makes it a little smoother of a drive during cold. But cwl011 is correct. Camaro hates cold start ups lol.

I actually love the cold starts... the roar is louder when it wakes up ...hahaha...
But I have tried to idle for sometime and then take the car... but have seeen the same issue .. though it just lasts about 10 mins of the drive...

My M6 doesn't like the cold. I think it's just normal. It was the same with my 2011 SS. For the first 5 minutes or so on cold mornings 1st to 2nd shifts aren't good. Sometimes you almost have to be stopped to get it back up into first. This would be during 30°-40° mornings. Once the trans has some heat in it everything seems to smooth out.
