Primed Hood

Is any one else turned off by the unfinished look of the 1LE Hood? It looks like paint primer, as if the car has been in an accident and a do it yourselfer is repairing it. Otherwise I like the car just too ugly a hood to buy. Flat or gloss paint should be an option. I'd bet Chevy would sell more.

It's a vinyl wrap, take it off if you don't like it. The hood is painted body colour underneath

I like it with some body colors, don't like it with others. A darker color makes for a more subtle accent with the hood, spoiler and mirrors.

That's good to know. I'm not a fan of it with the hyper blue.

I actually like it with most colors. It's great for reducing glare too.

I read somewhere on the forums that was the real reason for the matte finish, with the 1LE being a track car. Might be a tidbit from Mr. Wyndham.

That and I always figured it also helped with rock chips to the hood from track use.

Normally I'm not a fan, but it does give it that racy feel. On a black car it's going to look fantastic, I think.

That was per Fbodfather when the 5th Gen 1LE debuted.

I'm not a big fan of it either, especially with the shape of the hood on the 6th gen (compared to 5th). If it's really painted underneath, I'd pull that off the same day I bought it.

Even if the 5th gens hood was painted underneath, how do we really know for a fact that the 6th gen will be?

Not usually a fan myself but as other have said it an old school racing thing. Especially on cars with long and not very raked hoods. They would do this do reduce glare. Same concept as flocking the dash. That's why you see some Porsche's come with alcantara covered dashes in race cars.

Every month this exact "Black hood" issue comes up.

Yes, it is painted underneath. Yes, you can take it off. There is a video on youtube that shows how to take it off.

Most people love it. The hood is not the only thing that is covered. The mirrors, spoiler, splitter and diffuser will also be wrapped. If you take off the hood then take off the rest. Or, just take the hood wrap off.

FYI the mirrors and spoiler are painted..only the hood is wrapped.

The splitter and diffuser are painted as well, and they are gray, not black like the other stuff...
