Will 15s work for drag radials and how wide?
I'm new to the Camaro game. Coming from a coyote Mustang and had some questions. Can you run 15" welds on these cars? Have an A8 and want to run drag radials. If so how wide and also what tire sizes? Are and drive line mods recommended? How strong is the independent rear end on these cars? Is the drives shaft a two piece? What can these cars take stock? Sorry for all the questions. Trying to make some good choices for the track, I'm trying to see if I can get some 11s out of this car.

Run it with street tires first. Look at the drag times. There is already 3 cars in the 11's with stock run flats. I ran 12.04@115.83 with stock run flats and with a couple more passes I think I could have been in the 11's. If you want to run 15's you'll have to change the rear brakes. Calipers and rotors won't clear the wheels, you have to grind the caliper to get 17's to work.

15s require a brake kit as mentioned

You can run a 17x10 weld on these cars without any modification.
![]() 15's require brakes and rear arms to clear. Stock A8's are quicker then the M6's probably due only to the time it takes to shift. According to DSS, the stock axles are fairly strong. They said they "may" hold up to 900hp. The problem is how hard of a launch they can withstand. There are a lot of variables. Suffice to say, 11's are quite easily attainable in these new cars. |

Also several mph faster then the stick cars. There are plenty of 17" wheels and slicks or drag radials to choose from. You don't really need the 15's to hook up or run fast. If I can cut 1.70's with street tires these cars transfer weight pretty well. I think you'll pick up a .5 tenth to a tenth with your 60 ft times with dr's or slicks

Thanks for the information. I may just look into 17s with drag radials mainly for traction with a blower down the road. Can't wait to get to the track and see what this car runs stock.

They are 17x10 Weld S71 with the 7.2 backspace and the high pad height. Tires are Hoosier D06 28x10 slicks.
I wanted radials but everything was on backorder when I got them, so I went straight racecar. |

What size drag radials were you looking at before you bought slicks? Trying to figure out what tire sizes work well on these.

I was tossing around the idea of going down to a 26" tire which was the 315/35-17. I can't remember what the 28" came out to.
